Slysz Bowie?

#1

Post by gull wing »

From the pic's I see it's a Standard pivot, with PB washers and no ball bearings.
No insert at lock lug.
So basically a big brother to the Techno. Not bad I like my Techno.
I think I could like the SB as well. It has a thinner blade than the Techno, a plus for me.

Slysz Bowie Rules!

Hi gull wing!

You're right Bro, on every statement.

A SB Slysz Bowie? Sounds nice to me. :)

But I truly love CTS-XHP way over any carbon steel. :D

OTOH, a CTS-204P Slysz Bowie well, it should be way above awesomeness!

This post was so great thought I would revive it. :D

Well, I have one comming. I love my XHP Techno, my only XHP blade. Super sharp steel, great. I'm thinking, the thinner blade of the Bowie will slice nicely. Does it?
It should handle nicely with it's longer thinner handle. (thinner blade, contoured handle = thinner handle)

Will I like this knife? ;)

I don't know if you'll like it, but I sure do. Yes, it does slice well. Aside from the pocket clip that grabs fabric, it's close to perfect (for me).

I think SB in the OP doesn't mean Super Blue, but it means Slysz Bowie.

Any word on Spyderco CQI'ing a slighty longer/shorter clip to remedy this? Or is this something 20 seconds with a sharpmaker stone can fix by de-burring a ti corner on the slab?

I wouldn't try to fix the clip issue with a sharpmaker stone!

I would've already swapped the clip on it (I believe someone here swapped theirs with a longer clip), but the Bowie's clip has a fantastic finish that I don't want to swap for a shiny one. It just needs to be about 1/8" longer.

I got to fondle one at my local knife store, very nice proportions. The contouring on the frame gives the knife a good palm-filling feel, but overall the handle isn't very thick so it carries in the pocket nicely too.

Probably the best all round EDC that Spyderco makes imho. If one prefers a back lock a Stretch is good alternative.

Yes SB (this time) is Slysz Bowie.
More - I like the closed S B view, it's not so w i d e as some Spydercos are, makes for a nice pocket carry(or IWB in my case).
Plus the blade to handle ratio is right in there with my current preferences. (getting away from the big handle small cutting edge)

Waiting!
