As was I. Class of 2000, baby! I don't feel old though, just surprised how many whippersnappers we've got on these here forums.

Whippersnappers and old dogs too. ;)

I think that was V bulletin thing, when it was revamped in '04 every forum using it got reset to that start date. It's the same thing on some other forums I'm on.
I'm pretty sure D is correct on this. A lot of us old timers have start dates in 04 including The Deacon, JD Spydo, and sal. Plus, I know I joined sometime in 2003.f

Interestingly (to me anyway) this thread started around the same time I bought my first Spyderco. I bought my Snap-It the summer after I my freshman year in college (Fall 99-May 2000). I probably bought the Snap-It in June because I remember having it on the family vacation in rural Minnesota in mid-July.

The mystery now is, what sort of contest was it? The calendar contests have been around here longer than I have, but not anywhere near 14 years, right?
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod
Note to self: Less is more.

So now the contest becomes ...

Who can be the first to figure out what the contest was!

Bonus points if you can tell us who won!

I was wondering if you were going to say that ;)!

For me, I was going to grad school just north of Denver in Fort Collins, and completely oblivious to the fact Spyderco was just a quick ride away :(...

When this thread started I had just finished my first year of graduate school. Was that really 14 years ago?

Oh yes, it certainly was! Six long years of that, plus three more for a postdoc. A yawning eternity ;)... I measure time now in knives purchased!
