What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christmas?
Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
No Spydies as presents this year. Almost ordered a Southard, but couldn't find any under $230. So then I saw that BBS had their Blue G-10 Domino for only $209 I had to order one with my Christmas money. :D

No Spydies under the tree for me this year, but I did end up with a blue handled Opinel and a Camo handled Victorinox Spartan. They're my favorite brands next to Spyderco, so it worked out great.

Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
My darling wife blessed me with...
a Rubicon and a Microtech Mini-UDT!
(Disclaimer: My pics are not as nice as Goldenspydie's, but they'll have to suffice for now :o ).
Woot! I honestly never anticipated receiving either knife, but I've come to realize that my wife has a certain knack for blessing me with mind-blowing gifts. :) I am seriously loving both knives right now. The Rubicon is simply phenomenal piece of art! I will give a solid 10 out of 10 on this knife. Holy. Stinking. Cow.
The UDT (although not a Spyderco) is a neat little knife. Since I am now legally able to carry autos in Indiana, I am really looking forward to carrying this little guy and seeing what it can do. The fit and finish is top-notch and the blade is ground nice and thinly. I think the CPM-154 will be awesome to play with too.
Cheers,
Michael

Received a Spyderco Techno from my wife. I never thought I would like this knife, but it's really growing on me. I am really impressed with the ergos and love the deep pocket clip.

My son was nearly speechless when he opened his package and found a Shun chef's knife. I got a set of UF rods and a Spyderco case.
Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
It was $170 a few days ago! That was when Amazon had them though. It's now around $234 from another seller, on Amazon. I'm actually pretty happy I picked up the 204p Domino though. :) Would you say $209 is a fair price? I figured that was a good deal considering that the XHP Domino is around $199, and Southards are around $240+.GoldenSpydie wrote:I believe that Amazon has the brown Southard for $175...MattM68 wrote:No Spydies as presents this year. It's a great deal for the 204P Domino! I got mine back in August when they came out for $254. No matter the price, it's a great knife--enjoy!

I gave my wife a White Ladybug.
Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
Couldn't pass up a Becker bk15 with lansky field sharpener for $32 shipped from reds with all the discounts. Had to throw the sharpener in the cart to go over $50 for $10 off. Don't think I'll need or use it but I can always give it away if I don't like it.
Hoping to use it on an elk this season.
I'm giving one to by bother and receiving one for myself.
The POOR man's southfork. I won't be afraid to use is hard due to the high carbon steel and what not.

Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
I am the coolest uncle EVAR...gave a 10 yoa nephew (who had been asking for a knife) a custom color (hunter green) Victorinox Explorer Plus with a custom paracord fob (OD green and black...his two favorite colors). He is a budding scientist (really-his mom is a microbiologist and he loves to study the most arcane details on everything...even bugs!) so I KNEW the SAK I picked would have to have a magnifier on it, which limits the choices to about 6 (give or take) right off.
Also had his initials engraved on the main blade.
According to dad and mom he hasn't put it down since Christmas Eve and has slept with it. :D
He's an ultrasmart 10 yoa and he and I went through every tool on the knife and I explained it. We watched the 3 1/2 minute video on the history of Victorinox. I OVER emphasized safety and the fact that he must NEVER carry this to school by accident (or on purpose!)
GOOD times.

Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
For the first time in years, didn't give any Spydercos, and the only ones I "got" were the red SE and black PE versions of the new K05 Utility Knife. Had them on order from NGK, and they arrived on Dec 24th. :)

I received a Spyderco Double Bevel from my always wonderful wife:
Re: What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christ
I gifted an SE Cricket to a new next door neighbor who has been very friendly and helpful over the past year. I couldn't find a use for it, but the neighbor will appreciate the "differentness", sharpness and sheer audacity of that model :D

I never ask for Spydies as gifts. I prefer to procure them myself. I did give a non-Spydie knife (a brand he really likes) to my only knife-loving friend.
I did buy myself a long overdue addition to my collection with an Amazon gift card: an orange Dragonfly.
