Just gifted a Tuff with gift receipt...
should I keep it? I just bought an Enuff to be my beater in the yard and fishing. This a bigger knife than I have owned and not sure how much I might carry it. I could get store credit at this b&m as they get 2 of every new release and sprint...I also do not own a sharp maker or a knife in M4 like the Tuff. What to do?

I'm completely confused. Did you get a tuff or an enuff? What does owning a sharpmaker or m4 have to do with it? Sorry, not trying to be obtuse, just a bit lost on this one.twinboysdad wrote:should I keep it? I just bought an Enuff to be my beater in the yard and fishing. Pass to the next one, I don't have a Tuff!
Kidding you, that's a nice knife I would definitly keep it as I think it's gonna be disco soon.

If it's not polished, call it a saw, not an edge!

Re: Just gifted a Tuff with gift receipt...
I was gifted it by my father.
I thought the Tuff was M4, I see now it is not.
The B&M it came from has sharp makers and I was considering trading it for a SM and something else.
Sorry for the terribly ambiguous post Gringo, it was tough to make heads or tails of! Especially the M4 mistake, that steel was why I might would have kept it.
Main thing is just the massive size of this thing

Ahh, I got ya, but honestly, the first sentence of the explanation was enough to make it an easy call for me...I'd keep it. :-)twinboysdad wrote:I was gifted it by my father.

Yep, I would too. As a gift from your father, it will hold sentimental value for years to come. Hang on to her and buy a Sharpmaker. :)MacLaren wrote:I'd keep it....

It's a great knife, and you'll find it carries smaller and lighter than you'd think. It's also more ergonomic than you might think, and 3V is even tougher than M4. Not quite the same wear resistance while cutting through abrasive materials like cardboard, but less resistant to damage for sure. It's a great steel and mostly popular in custom fixed blades for hard use applications. I have a custom green+carbon fiber handle scale, and a green/yellow/black geared backspacer on mine and love it (I can post a picture if you're interested and/or point you toward someone who does awesome custom scales for the Tuff). I'll link a video of a knife in 3V...I cringe a bit watching it and I'm sure it dulled, but it's certainly not damaged more than a fairly simple sharpening job would take care of...it's tough (Or should I say "Tuff") stuff.

I love the Tuff and it is one of my favorite Taichung knives. It ranks higher than the GB for me.... 3V is some interesting steel.

I'd use and abuse it. If I don't end up getting a Strider I may end up with one of these.

I think that's a great present from your Dad. He obviously knows you are into Spyderco knives and got you a great example. It's not a cheap knife and if you exchanged it, you'd be getting about 4 or 5 Sharpmakers, probably 10 here where I live, lol.
Keep the knife, use it and have a great Christmas :)
