Spyderco 4'' Kitchen Knives are Out!

#1

Post by Invective »

Just noticed the 4'' Kitchen knives are up on the blade headquarters *winkwink*

$25 for them which is a steal of a deal! I will be waiting until after Christmas to order a pair since I just spent way too much money on another knife but thought I'd give y'all a headsup!

IMPORTANT: It appears BHQ has copied the specs for the original K05 from Spyderco's website and listed the handle material of the new black and red K05's as Sermollan. To the best of my knowledge, this is incorrect and the handles will be polypropylene plastic, like those on the new K04's. They also show the handles of the black and blue K04's that came out earlier this year as Sermollan and I know for a fact that those are not Sermollan. I have also emailed BHQ about this and suggested they contact Spyderco to confirm and correct their listings.

I'm happy that they're out and I'm fine with the harder polypropylene handles so I'll be ordering a PE and SE, but am sure there's going to be at least one unhappy camper crying foul because the handles aren't soft and rubbery.

I am glad that Spyderco has chosen to offer the serrated versions of each of these new knives in a different color for easier knife block identification. Going to need a PE and SE in this little blade. Thank you for the heads up.

edit*
National also has them in stock.

edit again*
National has a few less in stock now. Red SE and Black PE inbound. :D

Knife Works had some, sold out, then got some more in. I bought a couple for $22.95 (along with a stainless steel version of the ESEE-4) and received them Saturday.

Not that I do much work in the kitchen to actually justify all these nice kitchen knives I have :).

Thanks for the heads-up, Invective. I'll be looking to pick one up in January. The utility knife has seen a lot of use, thus far and I'm sure the paring knife will see the same.
