Spyderco Art

#1

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

:)

Here are some of my rough drafts/first outlines of Spyderco art. I would like to get a Spyderco Art movement going, with Sal's permission, ofcourse. Paintings, Sculptures, the possibilities are endless. Of these outlines, which one looks the most practical, if made into a real knife?

Is it just me, or is that looking like some drawings from a 8 years old?
Your idea might be interesting, but you seriously need to improve your drawing skills :)

Creative expression is what it is. I think there are many areas beyond cutting tools in which the Spyderco structure and paradigm could help to benefit. Art is one of those areas.

Not a bad idea, really. Not sure what the market would be on Spyderco art, but it is an interesting thought.

Great idea, and i love the contour drawings. Some of our fine fellow forumites might not understand the process of development in a design, sketches like these are one of the preliminary steps leading to the knives in their pockets. Keep it coming, i will be adding to this thread :)

The one in the middle looks like it has the most practical cutting potential. The very even secondary bevel will provide little resistance when cutting through materials like rope, while the oval Spydie-hole will allow for lightning fast deployment.

Hey Picasso, don't forget to sign your art. You wouldn't want someone to steal it and attribute it to themselves.

This is approaching Poe's Law status.

I think his posts on 3-d printing indicate that this is actually artistic expression. It's a starting point.
