On the early run, customers were able to select their numbers. President Bush was given number 911 and Mayor Giuliani was given number 2001. everyone else paid full boat.

Dear Spyderco Community,
I would like to thank you all for your support and help to helping me find a WTC Knife. Today I purchased one from one of the community members who lived close to me. He was very kind and offered me to purchase his knife. I don't know if the member wants to remain unanimous, but thank you once again from me and my family. This knife will be safely kept in a glass display and will always be a family treasure.
I wanted to share two pictures with you all. The first picture is The WTC Knife with one of John's memorial cards next to it. When I was in academy, I kept that card in my chest pocket.
The second picture is something that I made and have framed in my home. My cousin Danny who is John's twin brother gave me an NYPD and Emergency Service patch. The picture is a cover of a magazine from Italy. The card on the top is one of John's memorial cards. The card on the bottom is something I made and wore when I ran the Peace Officer Memorial 5k. I placed second and won that medal and dedicated it to John.
Once again, thank you all for all the time you put in for me. Spyderco is now and will forever be my knife of choice and I'm proud to be a member of this great community.
Sal, Thank you for sharing all that information about my cousin, and the history of the WTC Knife. I really appreciated that information.

I just realized the pictures didn't go through. Copied the wrong link. Hopefully this one works:

Very touching, thank you for sharing Brandon. It's great to hear you could find the knife, and how it came to be :)
The problem of a coherent civilization is the problem of living with ignorance and not being frustrated by it.
Re: Searching for a World Trade Center Knife
So glad someone came through and you got one....I mean REALLY glad....cause now I don't have to give you mine....it's my favorite....but could not possibly mean as much to me, as it does to you.

It is nice to see this thread again.
