FYI to all the SE lovers recently
Just a public service announcement. I know this won't please everyone, especially all you collectors out there, but you can have just about any knife you own save for recurves ground with Spyderco pattern serrations for $6 by Wiley Knives. http://www.willeyknives.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I don't mean to be advertising for them, but this has been mentioned so many times and I still don't think many people know about it. This won't satisfy all the dreams for past models being brought back as SE, and it may not satisfy the dreams of boutique steels in SE, but in the meantime until some of those dreams come true, you can get your serration fix for a mere $6. I've been meaning to send a couple knives out myself, but I'm always busy and I procrastinate. Maybe I'll get around to that this weekend and see what I can find.

Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
Hey Dave, do you have any photos of the serrations they grind? I might have em do a pm2.
Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
Someone here posted pics of a Military they had done but now I can't find the pics. They weren't the best pics but the pattern was the same as Spyderco uses. I've talked with them in email and they say they can indeed do the pattern. The only issue you have is since a PE blade already has a double bevel edge, the serrations don't end up as deep as they would if the edge was chisel ground, which may or may not be a good thing depending on how you like your serrations.Surfingringo wrote:Hey Dave, do you have any photos of the serrations they grind? I am gonna try and grab some cruwear or S110V at the seconds sale and then I am gonna make this happen.

Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
If I don't see any hope of my recent thread getting any prompt attention I might just send them my XHP Military>> I have two of them anyway and I've wanted to know for a long time how XHP would perform in full Spyderedge. I'm not necessarily giving up on my hopes because I have seen a slow but steady demand growing for many classic models desired in Spyderedge>> Particularly the Military, PM2 and TUSK
It's a great option to have for sure>> however I do want to chat with someone that has had them do a Spyderco blade and see if they are completely satisfied. Ultimately I would rather mine be done by the Great Spyder FActory but if it turns out to be hopeless it's a good option if all else fails.

I wouldn't do that to yours bro.
I just got it shaving sharp again. Its like a folding short sword. It can really make some amazing cuts.
Its made me want a plane edge one now too also.
I'm just thinking it may be easier to get what I want made.
I'm having no luck finding a black serrated military with combo edge.
It gives me a lot of steels to chose from and I can get it coated if I still want too.
Then I can start on a fully serrated one just because I want one. :spyder:

Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
I needed them a good 6 years ago.
I would have bought the Captain back then and send it to them.
And the etched Cricket, Mini Manix and.... :D

I'm not sure they could do it anyway. I wanted my Ulize done but they said the recurve might be an issue. They said they can definitely do it in a single size serration pattern but probably not the double size like Spyderco does.spydutch wrote:I needed them a good 6 years ago.

My front brain says you don't need all that blade but I will be darned if it doesn't make a difference. The FFG and big handle don't hurt either. Just a great cutter.JAfromMN wrote:HarleyXJGuy wrote:Hey thats my Millie!JAfromMN wrote:Thanks Evil.

A cruwear millie with many small scallops would be killer. I feel the smaller serrations cut better/faster, my jester is like a laser going through paracord but my SE millie with large scallops isn't quite as smooth on the smaller stuff.bearfacedkiller wrote:I am gonna try and grab some cruwear or S110V at the seconds sale and then I am gonna make this happen.

Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
I believe this came up once and Sal recommended a specific company. Was it this company?

Spydutch my friend I knew that will all this talk about Serrated/S;yderedged blades it would draw you to the table very quickly :Dspydutch wrote:I needed them a good 6 years ago.

Well my friend I agree with you !00% on the Captain model but also the Military, PM2, Tusk and the Dodo model all would be great for Spyderedged Sprint Runs.
But I am glad that EVIL D is making this information known again because it gives many of us an option in case Spyderco is not interested.
And nobody can deny the fact that we are hearing more and more folks here on the Forum actually using Spyderedges in their occupations.
Re: FYI to all the SE lovers recently
I have a combo edge Millie that I bought back in '99. Love the knife, hate the combo edge. Wondering if it would be worth it to send it out to have it fully serrated. I find either full PE or full SE better for most of my uses. CE doesn't seem to do either very well IMHO
