JumpMaster variation with alternate edge?

#1

Post by DansGunBlog »

Not long ago Sal mentioned something about an alternate variation on the JumpMaster in development, with a non-sheepsfoot edge.

Any more details on that, i.e. what edge will it have and what's the planned availability?

Thanks!

That sounds like the pointier version that he gave to Gringo.

I don't remember the whole story.

yeah, it was in relation to that... but after that. something about a similar version in prototype phase.

that was the idea tho, a pointy version, not a sheepsfoot blade.

I would love a JumpMaster, but have no need for a sheepsfoot tip. would far prefer a "regular" tip like on the Aqua Salt for example. :-)

I love the tip on my Military, and even the tip on the Pacific Salt is great for that matter...

Thanks Sal, that's awesome! Love the leaf blade shape for this.

Is there a projected ETA for availability?

Probably 6 months after we receive a prototype, which is probably 3-4 months off.

I'm guessing it will look somewhat like a stretched out version of this...with se of course. I love the JM and it is an absolute beast of a cutter but its lack of belly makes it the wrong tool for some jobs on the kayak. I will almost certainly "need" one of the leaf blade models to mount in the kayak. Of course we have the new pointy tipped Aqua Salt spearfisher coming too. So many knives, so little $$$. Sigh.

When you say there is a new Aqua Salt Spear Fisher, do you mean the black Aqua Salt, or, is this something else we have not yet seen pictured?

Wow!! this sounds sort of like it would be similar to my dearly loved TEMPERANCE 1 model I've used for almost 10 years plus. But none the less I'll be on the lookout for it when it comes out. Actually there are some distinct advantages to a leaf shaped, serrated blade. I still use my Spyderedge Temperance 1 model from time to time and it is a jewell of a fixed blade Spyderedged knife.

I've yet to snag one of the Jumpmaster models but I've heard nothing but very good about the model and the prospect of this new leaf blade model has me more than merely interested>> it may have jumped up to my "gotta have" list.
