SE Para 2? (poll)

#1

Post by Knivesinedc »

As I have stated many times on here, If the Para2 came out in full Spyderedge, It would become my number one used and carried EDC. FFG serrations paired with S30v or even S35vn would be flat out amazing IMO. Yalls opinions on this? Sal?

What is the question? Do we think it would be a good knife? Would we buy one if they made one? I voted yes but it would be interesting to know what I am answering. Not that my answer will change. ;)

It is ridiculous that they don't just flip the grinder to SE on a few hundred just to see what happens! Most popular Spydie even among non Spyderco folks. I sure would prefer Cruwear>s35v>s30v but would still snag an s30v if that was offered.

not really a big fan of SE, id rather buy a 'salted' H-1 PM2 or at least in softer but tougher japanese steels like vg10 all in FFG.

While, if done right with maybe an inch or so of plain edge at the tip, it could be a very useful knife, I don't think I'd buy one unless there was something else different about it like a cool handle or maybe a new steel. I don't usually go for big serrated knives. Instead I prefer to carry a smaller secondary serrated knife to complement my main plain edge knife. The exception to that rule would be my Pacific Salt when I'm fishing. And...of course...

For me a spydie edge PM2 does not interest me. But why not? It isn't like the PE would be discontinued.

I'm pretty sure that's not how that works.

I do think it's ridiculous that the Para 2 -- arguably a flagship model -- doesn't come in SE. Can you imagine lack of SE option for Dragonfly, Delica, Endura???

The Tenacious comes in FFG SE and it's quite a compelling combination.

I wonder if there's some reason. The Manix2 comes in SE, is at a similar price point, and made in Golden. Is there some difference in geometry that prevents SE? I do know that most of the mainstream SE models only come in SE if they are hollow ground.

I'd probably pass, just because I never carry a Para 2 anymore. But I would like to see a resurgence of SE variants of many popular models, even if on a very small production level. I think this is one area that a "custom shop" option makes sense. Fortunately there are very qualified folks out there who can cut serrations for you for about $6 plus shipping so if someone really wants a SE Para 2 that bad, it isn't at all hard to get.

While I accept that the SE is innovative in its lengthening of the cutting edge, and I even have some H1s in SE, I'm just not drawn to it and would pass on a PM2 with it, but more power to thems that wants it.

I didn't vote because, while I don't want one, others probably would. I just hope they would make the standard production models SE, and not make some souped up SE only sprint run (because then I'd have to buy it for my sprint collection).

Agreed! I love leaf shaped blades, but for a Para 2 I just don't think it would fit.

Although I do prefer leaf blades...I am just stirring the pot since I was cyber-lynched last time I suggested a PM2 blade shape change. Golden would be crazy to alter such a top seller
