My first.

Post by HarleyXJGuy »

So I am back home to the USA and dug out my very first Spydie. I got it long before knives were something that interested me and it led a hard life as my only knife.

Can you Spyderco experts ID it or will the tape measure need to be broke out?

Is it an old model police? Wait, didn't those have a swedge on the tip? Is it an old stainless handled endura? How old is this knife? The blade shape reminds me of an old endura 2 I have.

Looks to be a C47/C10 Endura II. The Endura II was released in 1997 with AUS6 steel as the C47 and was changed back to the original Endura SKU of C10 in 2000. Combo edge versions weren't available until 2002 (at least that's the first catalog to offer the 50/50 combo, so the actual release date may have fallen somewhere in the middle between when the 2001 and 2002 catalogs were printed). In 2006, they changed it over to the Endura 4 with VG-10 steel and a different handle (there was no Endura 3 with SS handles), so yours comes from sometime in that four-year window.

Stainless Endura, AUS6 for certain.

I like this handle shape for the Endura as the new version has the finger bump slightly in the wrong place for my dainty, er, fat hands.

Yep, it's an old school Endura. :) My brother has one nearly identical that he EDC's on occasion. Nice knife--I really like the blade profile on the older models like yours. Glad to have you back. :) Welcome home!

Thanks for the welcome home everyone, glad to be back.

Bought the knife after I came back in the Army between 1999 and 2002 or so. Endura huh? Glad to see I had good tastes even before I found this place.

To bad The blade is so tore up as I would like to put it in the EDC rotation. Guess I will just keep it for old times sake. Dang knife has like 45 parachute jumps and been all around the world.

My first knife was a Homeij Endura, still have it today :) And my first Spyderco was an Endura aswell. Quite the coincidence in names :p

We, have Spyderco.
