New crow/raven

I'm just curious if the new Crow and Raven are close to release. They were always my favorite Byrds. I hope the swedge stays.

I'm interested in this as well. The Crow and Raven are just phenomenal hard use knives.

I think Sal has been away from the Byrd thread for a while.

Thanks for chiming in on this Sal. I'm really looking forward to taking a look at the new versions. Will these continue to use 8Cr13 or are they making the switch to BD1?

We're switching to BD1 for both the Raven and Crow. Thicker blade, full flat, thicker liner, larger lock releae well. We don't have a delivery date yet.

Sounds great! I liked the 1st gen Crow.. Will keep my eyes peeled for this. a thicker liner will make this version feel more stout, I think. While mine never showed any signs of failure, it didn't feel as stout as other :spyder: and byrd folders.

This sounds amazing. Can't wait to put the new Raven through its paces on some hiking and camping trips.

Thanks Sal, it seems swedges are endangered these days. Still looking forward to these- handle material? G-10, Al? Blade finish? I'm not sure why, but I feel like these need to be black.

Found a box from Sal and Co on the doorstep tonight. All I can say is forget what you know/think about Byrds. They are really impressive. Pics and a full review to come...
