New crow/raven
I'm just curious if the new Crow and Raven are close to release. They were always my favorite Byrds. I hope the swedge stays.

I'm interested in this as well. The Crow and Raven are just phenomenal hard use knives.araneae wrote:I'm just curious if the new Crow and Raven are close to release. They were always my favorite Byrds. I hope the swedge stays.

Re: New crow/raven
Thanks for chiming in on this Sal. I'm really looking forward to taking a look at the new versions. Will these continue to use 8Cr13 or are they making the switch to BD1?
Re: New crow/raven
We're switching to BD1 for both the Raven and Crow. Thicker blade, full flat, thicker liner, larger lock releae well. We don't have a delivery date yet.

Re: New crow/raven
Sounds great! I liked the 1st gen Crow.. Will keep my eyes peeled for this. a thicker liner will make this version feel more stout, I think. While mine never showed any signs of failure, it didn't feel as stout as other :spyder: and byrd folders.

This sounds amazing. Can't wait to put the new Raven through its paces on some hiking and camping trips.sal wrote:We're switching to BD1 for both the Raven and Crow. Thicker blade, full flat, thicker liner, larger lock releae well. We don't have a delivery date yet.

Keeping the swedges Sal? Please say yes...
Re: New crow/raven
No swedges on the first run. Sorry. There are so many changes as is and first time using BD-1.

Re: New crow/raven
Thanks Sal, it seems swedges are endangered these days. Still looking forward to these- handle material? G-10, Al? Blade finish? I'm not sure why, but I feel like these need to be black.
Re: New crow/raven

Re: New crow/raven
Ok I'll have to look up swedges
Also am interested in buying the old Raven or if I must a Crow.
Raven rhymes with daven :)

I carry a serrated Robin2 at work, a Cara Cara Rescue 2 in the glove box, and a ZDP Dragonfly or Junior everywhere else. My PM2 sits on a shelf with a small assortment of Kershaws.

Found a box from Sal and Co on the doorstep tonight. All I can say is forget what you know/think about Byrds. They are really impressive. Pics and a full review to come...
