Byrd Cara Cara 2 pivot question.

#1

Post by eqlzr »

Does the female end of the pivot on a Cara Cara 2 have a flat side on it to keep it from spinning in the liners when the pivot screw is adjusted?

Many thanks!

Edit: Nevermind. I answered my own question with a youtube vid from a guy showing some rust inside his Cara Cara 2 with very detailed macro shots of the internals:

Oh, and yes there appear to be flats on the pivot as well as on the screws holding the scales on so apparently they will not spin when screwing (or unscrewing) the pivot screw and other scale screws.

Recently I did a take down to mine, sanded some sharp corners of the inside of frn, smoothed the washer inner ring (some bent), reduce sharpness of the side of lockbar, and the referenced video is very useful to ensure the spring is seated correctly.

Following that video, the reassembled knife is much smoother, has better snap open & close. I guess in prior reassembling, I put the spring at wrong direction.
