Years ago before dedicated trainers were made by the knife companies people would buy two of whatever knife they wanted to carry and grind one down to use as a trainer.

I tape the edge with a few layers of tape, same result :) Be careful as that really isn't very safe. Especially if you do any kind of contact training with a partner. Better to invest in good quality training equipment, like dedicated trainers, than to risk serious injury to yourself or someone els...

Lethal force is lethal force, be it a knife, gun or other potentially deadly weapon. From the description of the incident, the husband was certainly justified in coming to the aid of his wife and in using the blade.
