The name is Malay for "chicken claw", or so I'm told. Some Indonesian styles, like Pukulan, have hooking moves that work well with the weapon.

There are two versions of Gray's Anatomy. One is a reprint of a very old edition on which the copyright has expired. It used to be reprinted by Running Press, in China. The current version, which is probably the 30th edition, is much, much better. However, buying it will ruin a hundred dollar bill. ...

"From the banter I heard at different Forums, I understood that the linerlock is not suitable for MBC." I think a well designed liner lock is perfectly fine for MBC, although I would prefer a compression lock. I have carried, and used, a liner lock Tempest since mid 1998. Everything from o...

Mr. Janich,

I saw what looks to be a prototype of a folding Ronin on www.bladeforums.com. Details, please?

I was wondering if either the Ronin or, especially, the folding Ronin might be available for Christmas. Mr. Snody can't seem to make Ronins anywhere near fast enough to meet the demand, and is hopelessly backlogged.

Wing Chun has a knife fighting system using two "butterfly" knives, which are not at all the same as a balisong. Wing Chun butterfly knives are fixed blade knives, long enough to reach past the elbow if held in a reverse grip. Sometimes the knives were carried hidden inside the wide sleeve...

I would be concerned.

It seems to me that the phone line being down is a very bad sign. It might be that they wanted to block 911 calls, but more likely they were trying to prevent an alarm system (they don't know if you have an alarm or not) from calling out over the phone line.

The only problem with the Damascus Ronin is that it is almost too pretty to carry. I am looking forward to the Spyderco production version. I am also anxiously awaiting the folding Ronin. Right now, I carry a Tempest on my right side, and a Native on my left side, because the Native has a reversible...

I assume you mean a reproduction V-42, which can be found at:
http://www.allmilitaria.com/bladesl.html
for around $120.

An original Case, in not too good condition, sold for $1925.00 at

Wrist Protector

Mr. Janich,

I saw one of the padded wrist protectors you use in your MBC class, but I could not find a maker's mark on it anywhere. It is the best wrist protector I have seen. Can they be ordered through you, or would you be kind enough to supply vendor information?

Thanks,

In my opinion, using a drone decreases one's chance of survival, without any countervailing legal advantage. A drone is a lethal weapon. Two years ago, I was showing trap and roll to a friend, a very experienced martial artist. I was using a trainer cut from heavy sheet aluminum. Aluminum is conside...

Ronin

Mr. Janich, After a long wait, I took delivery of a Janich/Snody Ronin. It is a most remarkable design. Quick, responsive, well balanced, solid, and very, very sharp. Three people who saw it said exactly the same thing. "It looks dangerous." They want one, but Mike Snody is not accepting o...
