Re: June Hawkbill Challenge
Mine is a few years old. Budding, pruning and gardening. Heavily modified and reground. For a month carry, no problem. Ill play, it has been in the pocket or waste band since I bought it so I can just continue as normal :) https://i.postimg.cc/CLwZgQ27/8-BA77-A11-A25-A-4-C17-89-D1-B91-F2257-A025.jpg

Re: How to take apart the Atlantic Salt LC200N???
I agree the blade kind of grows on you. But, I am still thinking of getting one and modding the blade to a pointed wharcliffe. I modded my old Atlantic to suite my job changes when I moved from oil and gas industry https://i.postimg.cc/KvtJrZZq/ED31-E3-A1-6-C72-46-C6-8-F7-E-03168095-B8-D9.jpg Very ...

Stretch Salt would be nice, the Atlantic Salt with a Manix or true wharncliffe would be my favorite.

Curious if anyone has heard anything more about the Swayback? Is it really in/ going into production this month?
Maybe Sal is carrying a prototype/ production sample?

Re: Liner Lock Failure??
Personally I feel Spyderco is one of the few companies that do liner locks well as a production company. I have been on forums long enough to see mention of all locks fail and be complained about. Including the ones seen as the strongest currently on the market (the lock arm failed on the ‘back lock...

Re: Manix 2 - Maxamet, new to me review.
Spyderco fine or medium stone with a strop on a leather belt. Thanks, yes I'm using the same apex finish - Atoma and Venev diamonds to shape a clean, thinned bevel, then a very light microbevel with the Spyderco mediums, and a few passes on the fines to crisp up the apex. Although I'm using the rod...

Re: Manix 2 - Maxamet, new to me review.
I have not used the sharpmaker in over a year but I have used it in the past on Maxamet. The AlOx stone just takes extremely long vs diamonds. 20 dps will surely give you the most stable edge but you can give 15 dps a try and see how it works for you. Thanks. :) What grit finish have you found work...

Re: Manix 2 - Maxamet, new to me review.
Very interesting, I always enjoy your reviews, especially as you push your edge angles to the point where they start to chip or roll. Thanks for the update and data points. Good to know Maxamet has held up for you at 12-15 dps. Are you hitting the apex with the Sharpmaker rods, or is that just a st...

Re: Manix 2 - Maxamet, new to me review.
A followup post of the Manix 2 Maxamet. I have used the knife om the shop similarly to most of my users to deburr Ti, cut sandpaper and clean out backings of belts. The knife has been edced and handled everyday tasks including garden work. I have pushed the angle to its extreme for this steel (7-8 d...

Re: Steel inserts on titanium lockfaces, are they necessary?
Updated 2018, February. Additional to the above based on Bob Terzuola’s and Michael Walker’s work Andre Thorburn has adapted a radius lockface, however slightly modifies it through manual adjustment to stop any lock stick from occurring. It is difficult to explain the process and I do not have permi...

Re: Steel inserts on titanium lockfaces, are they necessary?
I see a lot of knives are starting to promote steel lock face inserts or carbidized lock faces to supposedly prevent your titanium lock from wearing away from meeting the steel of the blade. Is this really a concern? How long would a non protected titanium lock face last against steel? Am I at risk...

Re: Steel inserts on titanium lockfaces, are they necessary?
You can see from the videos that even with blade play a lock can still be very secure, very reliable and would require the entire lock to self-destruct in order to disengage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2f5h9zFQvE Real interesting comments from Gavkoo on the folder of Kyle and what makers such a...
