New favorite carry piece. It's actually a (gasp!) made in China replica of a Microtech "Halo" variant. Materials: half titanium, half carbon fiber handle. Titanium charging handle. Satin finished VG10 blade, with a 4mm blade stock...nice and beefy all the way to the tip of the blade. Titan...

My mom is one of these like mentioned above. She shoots IPSC pistol matches, carries a Kimber 9mm, but is afraid of knives. She won't even let me sharpen her kitchen knives, because she doesn't want to cut herself.

To me, Emersons always felt like a low brow appeal kind of knife. A knife for people who don't know any better, want something sharp that's low maintenance, or they feel like they can abuse. The type of person I wouldn't normally lend one of my personal blades too, but if I had an Emerson in my pock...

I'm actually quite familiar with this knife and disassembly/reassembly. I appreciate your thoughts. I guess I just may have to remove the pin and see if the function of the knife seems affected.

So, I know the source is from the pin that the spring compresses over, but is that pin needed?
