well, for my Edgepro I have both the 220 and 320 stones and then the 500 and 2k and 8k...progressing through those provides one heck of an edge. If you don't need to set an initial bevel, you might be able to not use the 220, but often I'll need to get things lined up for the end edge so I got the 2...

That's true, one knife maker, Ott I think, wouldn't make a locking folder, said if people didn't know how to use a knife, they shouldn't own one ;) But the pressure require to close is not super strong, but the blade being small helps I think to make it work as a slip joint with little worry of it c...

Mmm, Pingolicious! When deployed, does it take some resistance to close it, i.e., so it doesn't feel like it's accidentally gonna close on you? Does your forefinger ever feel uncomfortably close to the blade? Comfy yes no no fuller answers ;) It has a solid sound when you deploy the knife, in the t...

The Techno is calling to me, got to handle one at Country Knives a while back, man that is a thick bladed rascal!

But for me, it's been the Pingo, here's a short video I made about that knife;

Echo the G10 as well, just has a better feel if it's textured right, micarta is nice too but find most seem to finish it just a bit too smooth to be of any secure grip. Also FRN, it really is pretty tuff stuff, I remember someone running over a knife with FRN scales and still worked afterwards, I ha...

I guess I didn't state that clearly, the notch I'm talking about is that little cutout before the edge starts on the Rock Lobster, where the Pingo and a lot of other Spydercos do not include that notch, for me, it can hang up when cutting loose material, where it doesn't do that say with the Pingo s...

I love my Pingo and the beloved blade shape is one of the reasons I jumped at the Pingo. The Rock Lobster was on my list for years, but I knew the N690Co was the final nail for me. A possible sprint Lobster in the N690Co steel (or Superblue) would make a for an instant grail. That would be terrific...

Seconds on the Rock Lobster post and also I'd say the PPT with it's curved handle works great as well.

Thanks it's the Rock Lobster that I'm unsure of but appreciate the reference for the Pingo as there may be others that would not know it's origin! here are a few images comparing the two knives, which I carry both as they do compliment each other nicely ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/Gary...

Rock Lobster

Spyderco Rock Lobster, a nice collaboration between Spyderco and Jens Anso, while it is unassuming, this knife pack quite a wallop in the cutting department, soft gradual curve of the blade’s edge allows for excellent slicing and the point, although being at the end of a sheepsfoot blade still has a...

Nice shots, also love the Pingo, I find that if I really need to open one handed, I pinch grip the blade and push back against the handle with my middle finger, not a speed operation, but it does work and you can open the knife using that method.

I'm a sharpening junkie as well, my wallet can attest to that as also the 50 gallon size garbage bags of confetti that I often cut up, my wife is not as pleased ;) I am cautious about getting TOO thin an angle on the edge, some guys I see have very wide bevels which leaves little steel behind the ed...

I just finished sharpening tonight, MUCH better overall, I had a micrometer that measured the shoulder above the bevel at about 27 thousandths which still seems a bit thick for that size blade and initial thickness of the blade, but with the new bevels and sharpening, I think it'll do JUST fine as i...

It just so happens I have TWO 8k stones, one a bit larger than the other, but I had a small fine ceramic and knocked down those raised edges of the words, although it's now smoother, it didn't make a great difference in smoothness, but, it sure didn't hurt it ;)

Update: I asked Christian at Nano-oil if it was any good at freeing rusted bolts. He said yes. :) He suggested the 5w because being thinner would soak into the area faster and better. I categorize oil into 3 categories for my use. Lubrication, corrosion control and fixing already rusted items. I've...
