Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)
Preordered my Millie 2 today from BHQ. Very excited about that. I bitched about the Military's flaws which made it the next thing to uncarryable back in 2018. https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79271 ...For my hand size tip down is slower and worse in the pocket. Scraping my hand ag...

Re: Spyderco 2018 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
Really looking forward to the 2019 list. I would snap up several Amalgam in CTS-204P, or better yet, Bohler-Uddeholm Sleipner. I've worked extensively with that steel and it's an absolute crying shame that it's not more popular, it easily outperforms CPM-M4 in the wear resistance, toughness and edge...

Re: How to Sharpen Maxamet
I have two Maxamet blades which I've now sharpened up nicely. Having a really light touch I think was the key for me here.

Re: Shipping of internal parts
I bought a used Sypderco Endura 4 in ZDP-189 off the Reddit forum R/Knife_swap. Two of the clip screw thread holes are stripped out, so I'll need the whole liner. I'm Happy to pay whatever that might cost. As for why I took the knife apart in the first place. Its because I'm going to darken the bla...

Re: Toughest stainless steel ?
This thread is sort of a mind bender for me. I really don't go in for the "hard use" which many knives claim to be built for. I'm an EDCer. I use knives as I go about my day to do any number of cutting tasks I might run into. Maybe i'm at a restaurant and I need to cut up some food and th...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
This model is pretty much exactly the one which the firearms industry operates under. All of the arms manufacturers moved to this model in the 70s and 80s because doing their repairs and warranty service in house became too costly and time consuming. The ones which haven't gone bankrupt or were take...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
Having read through this entire thread and the preceding one as well, I can offer a few constructive suggestions. 1. There are things about which even the best business can do nothing. People taking apart knives is one of those things. That said, the majority of people who take apart their knives, r...

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to blow up the way it did. Thanks everyone for your responses and opinions. I have a few thoughts now having read through the entire thread. I remember when benchmade announced that it would no longer make the 710. That really sucked for me because it was and still i...

Re: FRN Back Lock ONLY?
I could not tell the difference in material between the FRN on my Dragonfly and the FRCP on the Manix 2 LW in Maxamet. I really like both of them and thought they were the same material up until reading this thread.

Re: Which is your most useful and most used Spyderco?
Of all my Spydercos I carry Mantra 1 flipper the most. Size, weight, material, blade design are all top knotch. It would be the Military if the Military had a compression lock and tip-up carry.

Next Generation Military suggestions thread?!?!
I love this knife when Its locked open and I'm using it. Tip-down right hand only carry (my KW exclusive Military in CTS-204P is right hand only tip-down) is a huge problem though. It makes the knife difficult to reach past into a pocket if you have large hands. Tip-up carry puts the smooth back end...

Did anyone else do the Caribbean Compression Lock pre-order? Does anyone have any idea of when they will be shipping?

Re: Where's the Maxamet?
I've got the Para3 and the Manix 2 LW in Maxament and love them both, practically never have to touch up the edges. Maxamet is incredibly tough stuff to heat treat properly. The process is time consuming and finniky to a great degree if you want hardnesses above 65 Rockwell C and not have it be brit...

Re: LC200N Caribbean
Did the Pre-Order through Blade HQ a few weeks ago. The reason I didn't go for an H1 was that I would have been constantly after the edge. I'm willing to put up with a lot for great corrosion resistance, but I'm not willing to be constantly touching up the edge. 154CM is my baseline for edge retenti...
