Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

From "Magnacut in Seki Salts" https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=93238 We're still refining the heat treat on MagnaCut. It's sensitive to different heat treatment. We'd like to get it down before exporting the steel. Eventually, assuming the market likes it, we'll move the...

Re: 2022 Reveal — Stovepipe Thread C260TIP

The Stovepipe fit and finish seem very cool. For the people who have both, how does the fit and finish compare to the Slysz Bowie ?

Hard to make a better Izula than the Izula II.

Making wood knives isn't really Spyderco forte/niche. Better focus on what they do best.

Re: I hate my pocket knife.

The Dragonfly has always been one of the best out there. Top 3 Spyderco knife for me.

It's a small knife though, so it's less versatile than says a Delica or Native 5.

Re: Your value line knives

Are those PM2 scales custom ? They look different from the usual ones.. They are the normal g10 I just rounded them off. I prefer the softer edges. It looks very professional. You have a turorial somewhere ? Thanks! No, I didn’t document it. But next time I do it I can take pictures along the way. ...

Re: Your value line knives

The tenacious is my normal value line knife that I give as gifts. It’s a good gateway into the Spyderco world. But up until this past week, I had never owned a value line Spyderco myself. My wife bought be the Astute, and I’m blown away by the quality for the price. So far anyone I’ve shown it to t...

Re: 2022 first half is over, still no news about the legendary Slysz Bowie ?

Spyderco doesn’t discontinue knives that are selling. The first run of the SB didn’t sell well enough to stay in the line up. However, it sells well enough for limited runs like Sprints. Part of the sell outs are due to limited nature of Sprints. Nah, even with a regular release it would do fire. T...

2022 first half is over, still no news about the legendary Slysz Bowie ?

As you may all know, I'm enamoured with the Slysz Bowie. We had that Knifejoy exclusive deal that sold out very fast, and since then... Nothing. Knifejoy was supposed to make more, in different color. Spyderco was speaking about potentially retrain dedicated workers to manufacture a new Slysz Bowie,...

Blade strength : geometry vs blade steel ?

In terms of blade sturdiness, what matters more ? Blade geometry or the type of steel used ? As a point or comparison : what would be stronger, a Paramilitary 2 in 1095 (or any soft work steel) or a Shaman in 20cv (or any high stainless very hard steel) ? I've asked in an other thread and we didn't ...

Re: Which knife has stronger tip? Military vs Native Chief

Quick question :

What matter most in terms of blade sturdiness. The geometry/grind used or the steel ?

Like what blade would be a stronger ? A military in Crucarta or a Shaman in 20CV ?

Re: History of the Shaman

To answer your question, I remember reading about how it was a fun project for Sal. Something he wanted to do. He didn't expect it to become that popular. It's funny because it might be one the best folder Spyderco released, and it seems Sal didn't do it on purpose. Tells you about how great designe...

Re: "As close to perfection as possible" folder from Spyderco?

Native 5 LW.
Shaman.
Dragonfly 2.

I wouldn't change a thing. I'd take more chamfered scales for the Native 5 LW, but that's it.
