As a counter exemple, Citroen separated their DS line from their mainline offer and it works. KTM created Husqvarna and it works well too.

Give the spyderco factory outlet a phone call... They make a black clip version that fits most of their knives. Unfortunately, they're coat painted. Which means scratch and such will remove the coating. Best option is to buy Lynch clip imho or color them with chloride like some good soul above sugg...

It's so solid that Spyderco started to remove the liners entirely on some models : Native 5 lightweight and Para 3 lightweight.

In my humble opinion, it all depends on the Para 3 lightweight sales results. Making a lightweight compression lock is a huge design challenge. The P3 lightweight is one of the best piece of engineering I've seen recently.
