Two quick comments: first, it appears to me that what you're doing is imagining what would happen if you used RGEO tactics, but were holding the knife RGEI. RGEI, you'd be using other, more effective (we believe) tactics. Apologies if you're not making this mistake, but it sure feels like it. It's ...

Pikal
The problem with edge in, reverse grip (pikal) is that it is hard to cut an attacker's arm when he strikes. That's because the back of your blade is toward his wrist. Right hand against right hand, you might be able to hook over his wrist, but that gets you the back of his arm, not the inside of his...

A knife should be portable enough to always be with you, legal in your jurisdiction, solid enough to survive a fight, and feel right in your hand. The purpose of a knife is to cut, so it has to do that well. If you train enough, you will know what you want. I prefer a generalist approach, but differ...

As I understand it, and you should check, a Florida CCW permit covers knives and a variety of weapons. This is not true for many states. Neither a gun or a knife is much use without solid training. For a good over view of the legal use of lethal force, see: http://www.ayoob.com/df.html There is Prob...

My worst self inflicted cut was from a tip up knife ( from another manufacturer). The tip of the blade stuck into the bone on my little finger, then cut around the back when I pulled it out. I agree with Zen that it's possible no matter how you carry it. Joe Tip up, carry the knife all the way at t...

That's interesting feedback from you guys. I had never even thought about whether or not TRAINER blades were heat treated or not  . Trainers are generally heat treated the same as a live blade. Left soft, the lock would quickly wear. Which is why trainers cost about as much as a live blad...

You might want to be cautious about the Steyr. http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htproc/articles/20060112.aspx Steyr sold sniper rifles that ended up in the hands of terrorists, and the US government is not amused. Steyr canceled out of the Shot Show, and there is some speculation that they will be b...

You might try prying open an ammunition crate, digging a hole in the ground, opening a can of beans, and cutting through metal sheet to approximate escaping from a gunship that has gone down on the door. People in the field use what they have to do what they need done. It's a serious test of a knife...

If you live in the US and are concerned about legal issues related to self defense, go here, pay the short Arab a bunch of money, take the course. Excellent.

Assuming my trainer is the same as the knife, a T6 fits. Lowes sells an 8 bit set under their brand name Kobalt. Comes in a blister pack, and the drivers fit in the handle If you anticipate getting a knife like the Yojimbo, which has Torx head on both ends of the screws, you might want to get two wh...

Ayoob said he designed a naturally pointing grip for people used to gripping a pistol. Combatively, it's fairly easy to punch with.Jacks wrote:I like the sharp point. But why is the blade down at such an angle? It looks like a very nice knife. I would like one. Is this model made in Golden Colorado?
