Re: Tatanka vs Voyager lock strength test By Cold Steel
Having said all of that, I am kind of a little curious why spyderco didn't use a tougher steel than S30V. They had to have known people were going to do this stuff. You can see the lock didn't fail and that the handle didn't fail. The blade broke in basically the same spot both times. I wonder what...

Re: Official Thread Regarding Upcoming Endura/Delica/Stretch
HAP 40 I have no experience with but in the high wear high speed steels I like steels heat treated for wear resistance and am more than willing to give up a bit of corrosion resistance and even toughness. On pocket sized folder knives anyway. A fixed blade, especially a competition knife would be d...

Re: More linerless FRN knives please!!!!
My normal work pair are both linerless. I have to say, the Native 5 LW is much more rigid than any of the Japanese lockbacks, with or without liners. It has no play or flex whatsoever during heavy cutting.

Re: Toughness as a function of edge retention (?)
For example on the surface it would appear that heat resistance in a knife (used by people) isn't of any use and that HSS and similar steels are just wasteful as there is alloy which doesn't produce a productive outcome and this is money not being spent on useful function. However try to look into ...

Re: Native 5 Midnight Blue s110v Lightweight
This! Call me OCD but I'd love to see future US lightweight models match a little better. If the Manix LW can make do with a wire clip (I think it excels with one) then surely the smaller, lighter Native LW can? Also, if the we get screw-together construction on the Native LW, why can't we have scr...

If you're going to pair knives, carry preference is a big deal. I pair a clipless dragonfly with every knife I carry since it's always in the coin pocket of my jeans or loose in the front right pocket of any other pants. I really like the Chaparral, but it wouldn't work well like this. It's too big ...

Re: New Delica 4 Problem/Question
You're feeling the difference between the smooth, rounded part of the tang and the sharp edge of the lock cutout. Leave it be, as it will round over with use. Sand too much off and you could end up with quite a bit of vertical play.

Re: Dragonfly 2 suggestions...
If you want a smaller knife for precision tasks, get a plain edge. If it's just a backup, either will do. Super blue is great for push cuts through thread and fabric, so the sb df2 is always in my coin pocket at work. I did use a zdp df2 as my only knife for 2 months. The edge held up much better th...

Re: Need advice on Manix 2
Supremesolutions, a legit ebay seller, has the black manix for less than $100 and Cutlery shoppe has it for a few dollars more.
It really just comes down to preference. The s110v frn model is more practical, while you clearly want the aesthetics of the black blade.

Re: Tusk Mariner
Would the price of a full-sized and serrated water-knife, using LC200, make a significant cost increase, over one with a H1 blade, or, would it be roughly the same? I'm thinking in the Pacific Salt-size range, basically. It would definitely be worth it even if it did cost more. The steel isn't the ...

The saber ground endura has more of this than any zero scandi grind will. It wouldn't be difficult to either grind it to zero or convex it if you want the scandi sharpening method.Niles wrote:I want some meat behind the edge.

Re: Two days carry, not so good
Nothing looks off, but the clip looks like it was bent and then forced back into shape. I've had much more initial edge damage to my 2 s30v knives than any other spyderco steel. Nothing like that chip, though. The PM2 was sold without ever using it after touching up the first time, while the Manix X...

10, not counting byrds. The zdp DF2, salt 1 and ladybug were given to my dad and the squeak will go to my mom when she gets back from an overseas trip. I might give the centofante to my brother, but he's been annoying lately.
