Re: Anyone Else Up For a Resilience in CPM-M4?
I've been holding off on the Tenacious with this exact in mind! I hope the Resilience get's the same treatment, would be a joy to have that huge blade in M4!

I wonder when the 15V will come out. Can't wait to get it to pair with my S110V Mili2 :D

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?
I'll give it a shot, without the equations and formulas: Let's say You have a 100 m distance to cross with 1m/s speed. And let's say You take the journey by going in stints of half the remaining distance, so first 50m in 50s, then 25m in 25s and so on. Without stopping, constant speed. Will You have...

Re: VG10 HRC
If Spyderco ever does change to a different blade steel in it's Japanese models I will sure be curious as to which blade steel could possibly dethrone it. SPY27…. it’s coming Is that confirmed? Would be sweet! My guess would rather be something like Takefu SG2 - same foundry, locally sourced, alrea...

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll
For me it's tip-up only. I'mm right-handed and always carry in my front right pocket with the blade against the edge of the pocket, so that's safest, easiest to draw and least problematic to use the pocket alongside the knife (no jimping or stray blade tips to hurt ya). I tried tip-down knives plent...

Re: Crucarta, what's going on?
I also like to force patina on tool steels. My goto method is sticking it in hot vinegar for however long it's necessary (from a couple minutes to overnight, depending on the steel)

Re: Spyderco and hrc
With Spyderco I don't mind not knowing the target hardness as I'm pretty sure they went with something at least good and probably optimal for given steel's target use. With all the tests I've seen on the interwebs I don't recall any bigger mishaps with Spyderco's heat treats, when HRC is given it's ...

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?
Oh no, a Kapara with a linerlock would have very narrow handles at the lock cutout. Plus with such a small distance from the pivot to the contact point of the lock it would be a weak linerlock probably. A backlock could work probably, but I much prefer the compression lock's smooth operation

Re: Your Favorite Slysz Design And Why
For me it's the SpydieChef definitely. But I'm wondering, what is up with the SpydieChef 2? Has the design been abandoned? It was shown 6 years ago, so I'd guess plenty of time to figure it out?

Re: Has Spyderco ever brought back a knife they discontinued? Not including dealer exclusives
I would rather guess that the Millie 2 can be cheaper as it's really similar to the Para 2 in structure and geometry so it can probably use the same machines with just some small tweaks to the process parameters. Plus maybe the price is set lower to give the new model more traction in the market, th...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Thanks for the great report and photos!
That 15V Millie 2 is a must buy, exactly what I was waiting for (an interesting tool steel version without micarta). And possibly being regular production means I might actually be able to buy it :D

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?
Maybe by then the new coating will be fully figured out and we could get a knife with red blade, black handle? Plus maybe by then the MagnaWear will be released (or some other new and interesting steel). First I thought the other way around, but then we just get an SNK exclusive ^^. Or, as the 50th ...

Re: Does side to side blade play matter?
I also never had a Seki knife where You couldn't get rid of lateral play. They might become a bit stiff to open, but backlocks are never really smooth either way... Backlocks aren't the smoothest lock, but if you tighten the pivot too much there is extra friction on the tang that is very noticeable...

Re: T15 Testing and Pondering About CATRA (BESS Data Included)
Is there a chance the K294 and 10V just had some minuscule burr that the T15 didn't and thus the sharpness drop-off was so acute? Lately I keep seeing something along those lines in my knives - I can't see any irregularities on my edges after sharpening, even less so after stropping (I use a 20x and...

Re: Black Linen Micarta instead CF/G-10 please
Yeah, I was especially referring to the Kapara, as it's pretty slippery (while opening and closing, not in use) with the current CF scales. That would be even more pronounced with polished micarta
