Well.. it wouldn't be very difficult to make your own pair of g10 scales and a lock for the knife. I've made a few liner locks as a hobby, and although I usually grind down the tang, it'd be easy to cut the lock and then grind it so that it fits the blade's tang.... FWIW, I'd see quite a bit of valu...

Carbon, I remember seeing a backlock flipper somewhere... here! http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Specialty-Kni ... roduct_top So maybe that's not totally out of the picture. But it'd be hard to implement, that's for sure.

I said save. Just look for something that calls out to you. Don't buy a knife just because you can, IMO.

I've never worked on titanium scales. Are the scales on the Native hard or difficult to shape? I've got a good set of files and was curious how easy it is to work on... TedP They're pretty hard. It's not much different from steel, but titanium can get hot through hand filing (to the point where I l...

I was only mildly annoyed at the number of them being flipped over on BF. Most are less than MSRP, but we all know they probably used the discount code and were just making a few dollars. If these had been over $300 like some of the eBay listings, I would have been more apt to share my opinion with...

I'd be open to less traditional materials too. Anyone ever work with moldable plastic or anything like that?? Has anyone made 3D printed scales?? I'm not too sure about this. But I've heard of people using polymer clay to make knife handles. Supposedly Kato is a good brand, and all you'd have to do...

Also, if you're adding scales to your mule, you're going to have to send the mule to the maker. Not sure if you're a DIY person, but it may be easier just to order a sheet of kydex to make your own sheath. It won't be pretty, but will be functional.

BUMP. Still hoping for a challenge coin. I think EDCF used makecoins.com, and it was around $10 for each coin. (Assuming over 100 coins are purchased.) Not too sure though, but they sell it for $20 with profit. Even at $20 I'd buy a Spyderco challenge coin. Anyone else?

I think there needs to be two zero options. One for those who wanted one but didn't manage to get one, and one for those like me who couldn't justify the price of one or just didn't want one.

Just wondering, what did you do to shear the blade tang? That's quite an achievement.... I would have thought the lock bar would rip out of the knife first or something.
