Im relubing my GB's detent now after reading this thread further. A light coat of "Lite grease" for knives that don't get dirty, Or id use Tuff-Glide where dirt and debris is an issue. It helps to put a lite coat on the flat of the blade the ball rides on also. It makes flicking more fun a...

Im a new Spydie convert, But my numbers are multiplying like blind rabbits at ladies night at a biker bar. But i own zero Sage's. I will be buying one, But just waiting on the right deal. But the one ill be getting is the Sage 2 due to the Ti frame lock design. My most cherished knives are of this d...

Ive only had my GB a little over a month or so, But im a flicker so mine has been open and closed a few thousand times by now. I see no wear on my detent, But i do keep my knives ultra clean and well lubed. At times like when the knife is new i will lube the detent to keep wear down and make flickin...

I am serious about my knives, so is this an admission that you maybe exaggerated a little? Because if your knife can cut without touching, I'd like to know how and maybe try doing it. Oh BTW, I hate BS(blowing smoke). Oh Contraire Mon Frere! Your just pushing to start an argument and to upset someo...

Very informative, Thank you. As i look closer in the ads at those forums, There is no "2" and i just kept seeing "Para Military" and didn't pay close enough attention. I did find out alot of the "improvements" some say the Para 2 has and can see they still share alot in...

Para 2 and its differances?

I knew better than going to the local knife shop today to see what was new, But did anyhow against my own good advice. Found a almost brand new Para 2 that one of the salesman was selling on consignment for $109 and the only thing i could see done to it was it was belt sharpened for a convex edge. I...

Of course i wasn't exaggerating, Those hairs aren't stupid! Really im almost bald on my arms and legs since ive gotten into trying as many sharpening methods as possible to see what i like. Kind of like Jason from Friday the 13th's hair cut but all over my body. Even tho its humor, Its does have muc...

Well you guys just talked me into putting my Stag Arms thats LNIB on the Lansky stones and then a mirror polish job. That knife just begs for it anyhow. The only thing i dont like about the Lansky setup is it makes tips have elongated grind areas since the steel is thicker as it gets closer to the t...

Never flick a knife at what can be perceived as a gun fight. But Blerv is right technically, In most cases an armed citizen with a legal CHL wont pull his weapon unless he knows that knife is gonna be used on him or someone else. But in court, The shooter most likely would have an easy job of gettin...

Titanium/G-10 Framelocks seem to have the best “feel” for both flipping it open, and slowly “peeling” it open (in my opinion). They seem to feel “tighter” when slowly peeling it open than a liner lock - so it’s more of a smoother action, with resistance - but still flickable, with a little more del...

The primary bevel was set by Murray, I had only sharpened it twice before this happened. That bevel goes up half the way up the blade and i don't use a secondary one on it. Its a clad knife so thats why you only see rust on the lower edge and yes, That doesn't look uniform. But its not supposed to b...

I Tuff-Glide all my blades, Coated or not. Especially my M4 blades get coated to resist any moisture and rust. It will instantly clean off tape residue as it is a cleaner and a dry film once you wipe it on and let it dry. Also Break-Free CLP for firearms works as well also, Wal-Mart has it cheap too...

Its ideal for anything that isnt constantly keeping the blade wet, It will rust quickly if not kept wiped off and dry. The name comes from the color of the labels that Hitachi puts on the rolls of steel, Initially Super Blue was just known as "Blue" steel. They have a "White" ste...

It took me alot longer than i thought it would to find a bevel guide like that as i thought it would be more popular, I did find another one but it also was in 5 degree increments like the Spyderco so i went with the one i linked. With the belt sander i have coming i think the guides that are built ...

The bevel guide i found is like the one Spyderco made before but is no longer available. http://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/Bevel-Gauge-P9C2.aspx Its mainly for checking the current angle and the angles as i progress and wont actually guide the blade on the belt, That will have to be free handed. But...

The Caly 3.5 is FFG and has a fairly thick spine but is ground very thin near and above the edge. That's one of the features that makes the Caly line so great. Im not a person who is into waiting on knives to hit the market, Usually ill find something else and buy it and forget the other. But not t...

While im waiting on my belt sander for some free hand bevels i cant do on my Lansky setup i was able to get down to 15 degrees each side, Then added a mirror polish. The knife slides threw magazine grade paper like a laser. The knife is a GB M4 btw. But once my sander and bevel gauge gets here ill b...

Im in, I love Super Blue! I hope they include a tips sheet on how to care for the steel to help it resist rust as ive seen it happen in 12 hours on my Murray Carter kitchen paring knife my dad used and put in the sink. I hope its done in a FFG or in a way it has a thick spine but a thin grind angle ...
