Re: Laci Szabo very Tight
This is not your average tight knife issue that needs breaking in. I have about 40 Spydercos. Pretty familiar with them, this ain't new knife tightness. There is a huge coil spring inside the Szabo that is just too heavy. I can speak only about the first production variant of the Szabo folder but t...

You can purchase the FRN-UKPK for a few Euros more than the amazon.fr discount from a reputable dealer in the Netherlands.

Re: Spyderco closer to Europe
Spydercos have always been ridiculously expensive here in Europe but the price trend of the last two years has been extreme. For example: Böker as one of the two official German distributors sell the Stretch 2 for the price of a small Sebenza, the Black Southard for the price of a large Sebenza 21 u...

Re: Old School SPYDERS: Appreciation Time
For me the "Golden Era" is more the "Golden Era of Micarta". There were so many wonderful Spydercos with micarta handles in this time period: The Goddards, the Calypsos, the C42 Viele, the C34 Jess Horn II, the Zowada, the Shabaria and the JD Smith. http://araneomorphae.de/images...

Re: Lum Tanto... Super Blue...
Though maybe technically possible I doubt that this would be an aesthetically pleasing knife. The japanese maker of the C46 will only use the laminated SB and the two different grinds (hollow grind and convex hamaguri) of the Lum Tanto wouldn't look to good with a laminated steel. Sprint of the C46 ...

Re: Starmate Owners Please Share Your Opinions
The Starmate is one of the best designs that Spyderco has ever made, the latest variant is not bad but the original is so much nicer. http://araneomorphae.de/images/Reviews/Bilder/Starmate2.jpg http://araneomorphae.de/images/Reviews/Bilder/Starmate12.jpg http://araneomorphae.de/images/Reviews/Bilder...

Re: Is my para2 real?
Considering the sharp edge of the right part of the cutout for the compressionlock I'd say that it's most likely a fake. :( Additionally the shape of the cutout is slightly non typical. Should look like this. http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userImages/ae/1607-ae5680fd.jpg just to verify: How ma...

Re: High end UKPK comparisons
The Titanium and G-10 models are almost identical outside of the scale material. +1 I'd like to add that the Titanium and the Carbonfiber UKPKs all have the newer, finer jimping. All UKPKs with black G-10 and most of the UKPKs in foliagegreen with the leafshaped blade had the older, coarser jimping...

Re: Must have knives to round out a collection
It's made by a french cutlery company named "Au Sabot", pretty reasonable priced with half the european street price of a standard Delica.DRKBC wrote:Hi MarcusH, who makes the Vendetta that you show in this post?

AFAICR the short history of the FRN-UKPKs, just for your information: variant 1: hollowed grind, GIN-1, weak spring; handle in blue, grey or burgundy (introduced in 2010) variant 2: hollowed grind, CTS-BD1, weak spring; handle in blue, grey or burgundy (production since 2011) variant 3: hollowed gri...

Re: Ti UKPK
The upgraded variant with CTS-BD1 with the split-spring and hollowed grind was only produced during a very limited production phase. AFAIR the CTS-BD1 production was switched to the hollowed grind with the split-spring in April 2012 and after early fall 2012 there were only ffg-models with the split...

Black Kat AKA Mercator K55 Opinel Douk Douk +1 The Mercator or the Douk-Douk are a must-have for any collection. There is even a variant of the Douk-Douk called Vendedouk. It's a Fred Perrin design, a mix of the Douk-Douk and the classic corsican Vendetta. http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userI...

Re: Your Blue Collar SPYDERS
I'm not an blue collar worker per se, but my most used Spydie is my first Starmate. Bought in 2001 in a brick-and-mortar store in Hamburg, I've used it very extensively while buildung our house. It has been my holiday knife since the mid-2000s and has seen quite a bit of europe: Italy, France, Spain...
