As always, must pitch the mid size Native:

I'm betting the thinner lightweight version of the Shaman is going to be extremely similar in size to that.

Re: DIY Swedge/False Edge on a Manix?

i'd be afraid to mess with perfection. "if it ain't broke, fix it until it is." Everyone should have a regrind version of their favorite knife. I wouldn't want them all this thin but they sure are fun to play with. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52783636593_cb1e293eb0_w.jpg I thought...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean on Sale

I hope that the Caribbean being discontinued is indicative of a revised version launching soon. Fundamentals of that model are great. I think the scales were unpopular and expensive to produce. Myself I’d love it with thinner blade stock and FRN scales. Everything else is beautiful about the design...

Re: Serrated H2 vs serrated H1

I'm betting they're so similar that any difference will be more placebo than reality. I was really waiting for the Autonomy to come in H2 and then I'd have two of the same knife to compare, and if I bought something else like a Pacific then it wouldn't be as close of a comparison vs my Autonomy 1 wh...

Wow shocked , I have been shooting exclusively vertical since last contest , back to the drawing board for me . MG2

Yeah, same happened to me a couple years ago when it switched to portrait.

Re: DIY Swedge/False Edge on a Manix?

A guided sharpener could do it if it can be adjusted to a steep enough angle. I'm not sure if 20 degrees off the Sharpmaker would be low enough, and it would eventually get very very wide depending on how close it actually comes to reaching an apex. You'll definitely want some coarse stones/rods and...

Re: Delica Points

Might have been chipped/broken at the tip and has been reprofiled along the spine at some point. Judging from how low the edge is by the plunge line, it really doesn't look like it's been sharpened down to the point that it would effect the length.

Re: Scale swap and rust

Probably not great, they may be stainless but we've had reports of liners rusting just on a hot and sweaty day in someone's pocket or wasteband, so salt water is going to be even worse. Plus there's galvanic corrosion which has been an issue even with knives that have LC200N liners. There's a reaso...

Re: Big Belly Blades

have you tried the zancudo? it's wonderful. I've thought about it, but something about having an asymmetrical frame lock really bothers me. Can't stand having a polymer scale on one side and metal on the other. Irrational, I know. You probably should avoid the Southard like your life depends on it....

Re: Big Belly Blades

I have an OKC Rat-2; it's my only knife with a large belly. Every time I use it I consider grinding it to a clip point to get the tip somewhere remotely usable. have you tried the zancudo? it's wonderful. I've thought about it, but something about having an asymmetrical frame lock really bothers me...

Re: Rock Jumper comparison thread + general info

The ratio is funny because on models that rely on a finger choil to get a full grip, like a Dragonfly or Native or Caly 3, the ratio never ever bothers me, not even little. It's only on knives that I can get a full grip on just the handle, for some reason those are the ones I want all the blade I ca...

Seems like a killer way to debut the Military2.

I'm really crossing my fingers for some bombs to drop in the next reveal and I hope one is a nice M2 variant.

Re: 15V, after the mule, what's next?

I'd get probably any of my favorite models in this steel, but it would also be convenient for it to come in something I don't have yet so I can cross off two things on my list, so maybe a Chief, Military 2, it also needs brought out in a slicy Golden made fixed blade (aside from the mule).

Re: Big Belly Blades

I use them for saving money 😉 No real use for one personally, except maybe for an Ayoob or models that somehow keep the tip low in relation to the handle. I suppose a Military kinda has a lot of belly but negative blade angle keeps the tip low. I guess I have more of a preference for low blade tips...

Re: My GoldenWebfoot dilemma

david, if you have access to a 3d printer, you can find angle guides that fit sharpmaker rods online. i wouldn't suggest this to anyone as an alternative to buying a sharpmaker, but it might be a better solution for carrying with some rods for a field sharpening kit as opposed to bringing the bulk ...
