Re: The Last Gun You Bought
I'd like a recommendation for a 3.5 to 4.5 inch 9mm. It must have a real safety ( I already have Glocks and don't consider this a real safety) . 10 round minimum with 15 preferred. Under $600. One that I've been looking at is the Girsan clone of the Browning Hi-Power/FN P35. Specifically, the compa...

Re: Question about lanyard holes.........
On knives I carry for outdoor activities that aren't already hi-viz (e.g., a Salt with yellow handle), I put a loop of blaze orange paracord through the lanyard hole to make it easier to find the knife when I inevitably drop it in the underbrush. So I do use the lanyard hole some times.

This shows all the current production and many out of production fixed blades:

This should at least have text info on all fixed blades, including all out of production models:

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll
Almost always tip-down. The only tip-up knife I carry regularly is a drop-point UKPK. And that's purely an "around the house" knife where I have easy access to other cutting tools. All my EDC knives are tip-down. I have almost 30 years of muscle memory from carrying tip-down knives, and I ...

Is it just the photo/camera angle, or is the pivot on the D2 Tenacious (with the crazy anodizing) bigger than the pivot on the other Tenacious?

Re: Found A Watch Fob , Help !
Can you read the dates on the front (by the eagle/shield)? If it's "1865 - 1915" then it may be related to the 50-year anniversary of the end of the US Civil War. The back looks like it's commemorating the merger of two groups, (I?)LDA and MSA, in 1910. (That doesn't mean the fob was made ...

Re: How many Spyderco Knives did you buy in 2023?
None. I got a couple Byrd models in 2019, but the last Spyderco purchase was in 2018.
If the Salt (Magnacut) PM2 ships in 2024, I'll probably get that in the coming year.

Re: UKPK Drop Point Steels
It's sold out now, but Heinnie Haynes (UK dealer) did their dealer exclusive in S30/red G10 with drop point blade: https://heinnie.com/spyderco-uk-penknife-drop-point-heinnie-edition/ As I recall, it sold out pretty fast. (So did the leaf blade version.) So there apparently is demand for the drop po...

Quick phone pic scaled down in size to make it forum friendly: delicas.jpg Your clips are on the wrong end. :shush Nope. That's how they came from the factory. EDIT: I may be wrong about that... It's been so long (2012) since I got the last Delica, I could be confusing the Delicas with the PM2s tha...

Re: Delica 4 in 2024?
I have several Delica, but these days I mostly carry a Byrd Harrier2 to fill that size/role. The Harrier handle is a tiny bit longer than a Delica (by about 1/16") but the blade and edge are much longer (by about 3/8"). So for very little increase in handle size, you get quite a bit more b...

Re: Inaccurate Search on Spyderco Website
I have found the best way to search the spyderco.com product listings is to use the SKU prefix. e.g., for Paramilitary (1 and 2) variants, search for "c81". (This won't return any Para3 variants, since those all start with "c223".) Or for Manix variants, search for "c101&quo...

Re: Christmas and Holiday desserts
Back in the 1970s, my mom started making a loaf style cake for the holidays. It's not a family recipe or anything like that, she got it from (I think) the label on the can of pumpkin puree that goes into the cake. This woman's food photography is much better than mine, and she has a close variation ...

Re: Any knife stores in WA and OR
Thought of another one: There used to be a store in Kirkland called "Epicurean Edge" that primarily had chef's knives, but also had some "tactical" knives. I just looked them up, and it appears that they've moved to Seattle. I haven't been to the Seattle location, so I can't say ...

Re: Any knife stores in WA and OR
I'm in western WA (King County). I don't know of any actual knife stores. There used to be some knife stores (House of Cutlery, etc.) in malls, but those all closed many years ago. The big outdoor stores (Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops, Sportsman's Warehouse, REI) have some knives. I think they all carry s...

Re: Forward to the past: Fallout preps are a thing again
If there are high-altitude blasts, the resulting EMP will likely destroy your iPhone. Are you doing anything to mitigate the effect of an EMP? I believe NORAD is tasked with tracking missiles and transmitting warnings before a nuke strike. FWIW, I do have a ham radio and an AM/FM radio stored in a ...

Re: Chief with compression lock?
One of the design features highlighted in Spyderco's ad copy for the Native Chief is the linerless construction. A compression lock requires some kind of liners; even the Para3 lightweight has minimal liners. Putting a compression lock in a Native Chief would eliminate one of the main design feature...

Re: When There's No Way to "Try Before You Buy"
hmm.. I guess that is way better than being totally surprised after unboxing, but inspired by your idea, what I'd really like is 3D shape files (no internals or IP protected details) of the handles or the knives in open position to be made available, so you could 3D print and hold an object with th...
