Well, from the movie it is obvious that the actor has nothing to do with sharpening.
He is using the rod as if he'd try to pry something out of the serrations of the weapon.

I know it's an old thread but actual for me. I am also in Hungary and just have bought a Mini Manix assuming that it is legal size to carry and now I have been informed that it isn't. I will take the risk and continue to EDC it because it is so awsome although it would be more convenient to know tha...

Although I am not a pastor, but as a member of a ministry team also used to talk in front of our church. Last Sunday I stood up and preach with my G10 Delica clipped in my pocket. I think nobody cared. :D If he worries about what others would say, I suggest an UKPK or other low riding, wire clipped ...

its starts with one, you use it, love it, buy one more and say thats it; you will just rotate the two, then you go to the forum because you love both so much... addiction win! :spyder: That's true. I started with a Delica 3 which I used for years. Then I wanted an UKPK as a backup. After that a Ten...

For the blade I use most often liquid soap just because it is available almost everywhere so I don't have to wait with tje cleaning until I get home.
For the handle I use hot water bath and toothpick too.

If you sharpen freehand, you might want to invest only into a set of sharpmaker rods.
Much more cheaper than buying the whole device (don't have to buy the rods in pairs) and useful for this task.

I prefer freehand sharpening, but after testing several other options now (although I didn't buy a SM) I use the three sharpmaker rods (from medium to UF) for my every sharpening needs.
