Re: Upping the price.

As it happens I had the chance to use a friends Coldsteel Bushranger yesterday - was blown away by its ergos and how solid feeling it was, yet the hollow performed very well cutting through green wood. It wasn’t a new knife but could tell immediately the worksmanship was there. - As we all know, Tai...

Whichever variation that has the least amount of lock rock or blade play.

…So probably The Chaparral variant. 😀

Re: Upping the price.

Easy to remedy knife price hikes - simply buy less.

Restrict yourself to a couple of knives per year - consider ones that you “really” want instead of consuming every new release that is put in front of you like some kind of a mindless rampant, knife-eating Pac-Man.

Quality over quantity brothers.

Re: Does side to side blade play matter?

It only matters if it personally annoys you. Sideways play generally is something that won’t go away or improve with age or use. Going by my own personal Seki experience; if anything it’ll get worse… and worse. I would say get a refund but I assume that’s no longer an option. Seki made knives do hav...

UKPK hardware?

A while ago I disassembled a UKPK because the backspring had snapped. I have since made a solid version of the backspring out of RWL34 @ around 56hrc, which appears to at least fit OK. The thing is I put the screws (and female spindles) in a small sealable bag but have since lost this bag somewhere,...

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???

I think unless you are using S110V in a controlled environment without the risk of connecting the edge against anything approaching hard, then S30V or S90V is the far better option for general use. Unless there is a way of improving the stability of its microstructure by way of bestowing it with a m...

Re: Upping the price.

As much as I love Spydercos K390, I find spending £354 (that’s $446!!) on an Enuff 2 to be quite an ask. FRN scales, a fixed blade with a hole in it and a sheath with more rattles than a Mojave Green will only get you so much good grace from me Spyderco. 😆 A Enuff 2 is $240 US from Knifecenter Curr...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange

At the end of the day burnt Orange is just a colour in the plastic. It’s nothing that particularly excites me. What would concern me is how a steel HT’d to circa 70 HRC is going to perform in the real word of cuttin’ stuff: How would the blade’s edge react upon receiving a small, unintentional impac...

Re: Upping the price.

I agree with a lot that is being said, but the main thing is no one is forcing anyone to buy anything that they don’t want. The price is there, you can pay it if you like. It’s not like the TV licence in the U.K. where we are bullied and constantly threatened into purchasing something we have absolu...

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

Although I choose my knife purchases with significantly more diligence nowadays, having just one single knife to use all the time would not only be a step too minimalist for being “into” knives as a hobby, but would also be too restrictive for my other outdoor hobbies too. My collection is always ev...

Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition

The Sharpmaker was one of the first Spyderco products I bought. Tenacious - Squeak - Then Sharpmaker. I have since passed it on but it taught me a lot about maintaining angle consistency. It’s a great simple system that could be improved on by offering more, possibly adjustable angle options, giving...

Re: UKPK Drop Point Steels

I reach for my drop point UKPK’s over any other Spyderco; Lightweight and wire clip makes for an extremely easy carry, brilliant edge geometry for showcasing a steels performance, great ergos which aid safe use. The drop point version is even more pocketable and the more practical and useful design ...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange

Personally I like the Orange and I really like the Sage 5. It’s a great design with a blade that possesses an accute blade geometry which cuts better than its stock thickness would suggest.

Rex 121 is an interesting choice - I’m Assuming it’ll be taken into or around the 69-71 Hrc range?

The Pontiac Aztek of the Spyderco lineup. 😀

The K390 being the 5.7 Hemi install. - Hot rod performance but you still have to sit in an Aztek.

Re: Price increases for 2024

Im kind of glad of these price increase announcements as they have made the decision to put a halt to my knife purchasing that much more easier to make. A decision that I won’t take lightly as collecting knives has been a big part of my life for a long time. I already own numerous knives with a vari...

I was planning on using a MagnaCut blade, but finally lost patience. I like SPY-27, though, so it's all good. I like Spy27 too but there seems to be Complete radio silence surrounding the FRN Magnacut model’s release. Has it been postponed further? Are we waiting for the new factory to be built fir...

Or because the lock ROCKS, Seki will let it ROLL (on out the factory and into the possession of a less-than-happy customer). :zany

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

Seki City Spydercos appear to be a bit of a lottery when it comes to quality control these days. I think even Maniago have surpassed them in this area now. I have a Delica with a small degree of lock rock but quite pronounced sideways play (yes the pivot is tight). Some day maybe Seki will bring the...

Just watched Eric showcase video and can confirm it is a full length backspring.

Nice G10, great steel - can’t wait for this model. 👍
