Re: Browsing through the product guide: The two middle ground models that are still missing imo
Was just browsing through the newest product guide - enjoyed it a lot, as always, but to me there are two obvious, often discussed already gaps in the lineup: 2.) Midsized Native A blade right between Native 5 and Chief would come in at pretty much exactly 3.5" and given the slimness of the ov...

Re: Getting Full Value from Your Blade Length
This is an interesting topic. I can certainly see the utility of a choil: the level of control is eye opening. Conversely, the negative leverage present in long blades has become a feature of my thinking over the last few years. However, the prospect of having a little rarely used "emergency ed...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
3V SRK. Quite a beast for $80. Very good value. As you'll see in the photos it's not 100% the same as the SK5 runs. - Flat saber grind instead of hollow saber grind - As a result it has a more robust tip - Also slightly heavier and more forward balanced, giving it a bit more chopping ability - Unco...

Re: Best fixed blade replacement for the Ka-bar?
My Grandpa carried a KaBar in Korea, and I'm lucky enough to have inherited it. It's not pretty, but it tells a story. For something a little more handmade, and a little more neutral in hand, I'd put the Bark River Bravo Strike Force 2. These are all 7" blades, like the Kabar. Personally, I th...

Re: Best fixed blade replacement for the Ka-bar?
I wondered about the SRK (and its quality) - I saw it for sub $130 recently, which seemed to be a good price given the steel.vivi wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 6:52 pm3v srk
The hollow ground sk5 srk has proven itself to me, and this version is even stronger.

Re: Current Models with the ball-bearing lock
Does any one know if there are any new models in the pipeline?
I gravitate toward neutral handles, and I worry that if I eventually buy a Manix 2 I will quickly regret it. I wonder if sanding down the handle scallop would be possible...

Yeah the Stretch 2 XL is no little knife - and the T dwarfs it (boy nice blade shape).

Best fixed blade replacement for the Ka-bar?
During WWII many soldiers carried a Ka-bar for a variety of tasks; today knife enthusiasts have a plethora of quality options that will fill the same roles. If you were transported back in time to serve in a 20th century war, or you were placed in a gritty survival situation that called for a knife ...

I hadn't thought of it that way.....yablanowitz wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:43 pmHappy to help. A comparison picture thread would turn into a useless quagmire with so many models to compare....wading through page after page only to discover the one you have and the one you want have never appeared together.

Re: BYRD as transition towards Spydie knives (or NOT)
The Byrd / Spyderco relationship depends on the person. For some, Byrds are surely a gateway knife; for others (such as myself) Byrds represent a parallel knife universe. I become familiar with the Delica in the late 90's or early 20's; the Byrd line crossed my path thereafter. I finally bought a Sp...

Re: Ti Robin Mod
A while ago I purchased a Byrd Robin 2 Ti for the purpose of experimenting with some different ano patterns on a Chinese produced "Spyderco". This became quite the project but overall I am pleased with the results. You might consider doing it again with another(?) TI Byrd - & then sel...

Re: Rock Jumper comparison thread + general info
Thanx Cl1ff. You guys can be funny. The concept was to test the viability if the handle forward...I designed the Delica to have a 3" blade, but the handle was too shot for many hands so increased the length of the handle to fit more hands comfortably.... I understand the legal concerns of some...

Re: Where Have all the Calys Gone?
Well, I have a Caly 3, a 3.5, and a Centofante 3&4 as well as a few current production folders (well, maybe more than a few). What would you like to see compared? I was thinking of the Caly's and Centofante's along side current spyderco models such as the para 3, endura, stretch 2, delica, etc....
