Have you considered the 3M Lapping Films?

I've heard good things with the films.

At the drive in movies, gonna watch that Tom Cruise movie..... I was able to fully sharpen my big kitchen knife. It did an excellent job. Very sharp. There's still a bit of a learning curve in just working the stones- but, overall it's really easy & very nice. I'll try to get some pics up asap....
