Serrated S110V (and other steels)

I was using my S110V UKPK just now and thought to myself “man, the edge retention on this thing would be outrageous in SE”. After a quick google I couldn’t find anything in SE S110V of any brand, which led me down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at other steels and their SE availability (cru-wear was...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

Hi Al, You will need to contact our R&D/Legal guy, Peter. Peterj@spyderco.com so you can get the paperwork sorted before you show anything to us. It's a formality but necessary. Peter is aware of this thread and he's also started to put something together based on your early description. You'll...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

My initial concept design is ready to hand to Spyderco for review and refinement, just waiting for a friend to turn it into a CAD format now.

*edited for clarity.

They could bring this out with a pot metal blade and handle made of fuzzy felts and I’d still buy one.

Re: Sharpening my Spydercos. A simple question...

I find a dual grit edge good for this sort of conundrum - you can do the show side to tickle your super shiny mirror edge proclivities, and the back side which you don’t look at very often is kept very coarse. Often discussed in relation to maximising Magnacut performance, but works well on most st...

Hi Al, Contact Peter Jhones at Spyderco. He's the manager of Research and Development. He also handles legal stuff. pjhones@spyderco.com You have to do some paperwork to protect both of us. Hey Al, You gonna draw one or should I have our guy Peter put a drawing together? sal Hi Sal, I can definitely put a concept drawing together, I just need to tear down one of my Manix XL’s tonight to see the orientation and space the standard CBBL takes up. Re: New(ish) Delica is covered in surface rust

If it’s any consolation my VG10 does that if I forget to spray it with marine tuf-glide after I clean it. It looks rough but with a rust eraser it comes straight off and is none the worse for wear after a touch up sharpening. *edit - added a picture of the rust eraser. It doesn’t just do rust - it a...

Bagsy?! Are you from the UK too? While I did just finish the latest season of Taskmaster, I'm from the states. I fell down a rabbit hole of UK slang after reading you're Grafter explanation. I only recently heard whinge a few months ago. Instead of bagsy we'd say "I call" or "dibs&qu...

FYI, in the UK, a "Grafter" is also a term used for "Pitchman". sal I’d never heard the term ‘pitchman’ before, but after a bit of googling I’ve been enlightened! This name is the gift that keeps on giving, as with all of those features in one package and made by Spyderco I’m su...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

Well, I've been wishing for a backlock Carribean for quite some time now... and it would merge not all, but more features you want (if it came in MC even more). I hope the Leafjumper XL/Sequoia will be something like a backlock Carribean, or the 4" blade "Deep Space" (see here https:...

Does anyone know of a good stockist that will post internationally? They don’t really have a presence here in Singapore that I can find. Does Amazon deliver in Singapore? Re: Knipex tools )))

I handled Knipex for the first time in Switzerland over Christmas and was rather taken by their quality at a reasonable price point. I’m normally a Snap-On guy, but Knipex’s smaller offerings are extremely tempting. Does anyone know of a good stockist that will post internationally? They don’t reall...
