Re: Recommendations for a European traditionalist

Welcome to the forum. I live in Switzerland, just a few minutes from the Austrian border. In addition to the excellent advice other forum members have already given you, I might also suggest the Byrd line, which is less expensive than Spyderco, but still of excellent quality. They are ideal for tryi...

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?

I've never owned or held the Kapara in hand, so I'm not sure what design restraints we're up against. And even if I had I'm not a knife designer, so I'd still be talking out of my behind. But here's what I wonder, could it be a candidate for a button lock/button operated compression lock ? Seems li...

Re: Does blade finish affect corrosion in tool steel?

Victorinox uses X55CrMo14 (1.4110) steel. It can be seen in a National Geographic documentary.
A screen shot of a metal analyzer is shown at minute 6.38. Here is the link.

In Switzerland they have arrived and some manix are still in stock.
It costs 248.50 Swiss francs, and if you calculate shipping and customs clearance it's not so bad.

c36 military symbol question

Greetings. I was lucky enough to find an ATS-34 military in excellent condition on an online auction site for a ridiculous price, and I couldn't stop myself from buying it. (58 Swiss francs, which is currently about $60)... Now knowing the steel and the fact that it already has the 3 bolt clip I pre...

Re: Been quiet in Sage town...

What do you think about a button lock?
I mean a true button lock like some pro-tech or klötzli swiss border guards. With the smooth opening that the sage 5 has, it would be a really fun lock.

Re: *GAMESHOW TIME*

Thanks for the responses!

Someday I will upgrade my kitchen knife set with an itamae knife, because they are really attractive.
Or, if I get really crazy, create a similar one by forging a sanmai with an Aogami core.

Re: *GAMESHOW TIME*

What ghost do you see here? Is it this one? The Itamae Petty. I was hoping my suggestion about cutting boards would lead someone to guess. 😁 So now I can ask if you've ever had problems with super blue core, because maintenance and possible rust issues have always stopped me from using non-stainles...

🤔 my guess is that knife has seen more cutting boards, than pockets or sock drawers....

Re: Newbie looking for steel recommendations

I might recommend the Sage 5. It has all the features you're looking for, (and in my opinion is more playful and solid than the para3) except that it's made in Taiwan. There is, however, the fact that a portion of the price will be donated to the National Alzheimer's Association Denver, which is a n...

Here’s one I took a few months ago. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

If that's a Roc, you'll have to explain the trick to keeping it so close to the edge of the pocket...🤔
Oh, nice guess. Is that a collab?

Re: *GAMESHOW TIME*

Unfortunately, the top one is not an endura.
And the other one is not a military or even a smock.
But yes, it is made in Taiwan.
