Re: Has Anyone Used a Spyderco Folder for Field Dressing?
Oh my ! Yes 100’s upon 100’s Started using a G2 delica full serrated as a edc, and unzipping deer , hogs , pronghorn in the 1990’s ( still got it and use it often) Since then I added a endela, endura , stretch 2 ,tenacious S35vn The BD1 raven2 is what I bought for my full time guides and ranch hands...

Re: Best Seki K390
The k390 endura is very nice I use it as a hunting knife
I am kinda @ buyer’s remorse for pulling the trigger on a serrated endela vg10, and not wait for
My full serrated k390 to arrive

Re: pocket ceramic for serrations
I keep a Lansky Spyder sharpener in my tackle box ( https://lansky.com/index.php/products/spyder-sharpener/ ) and I have a second one for my get-home bag. It does a great job of free-hand sharpening Spyderedge knives because the three different points of its “triangle” shape are designed to be perf...

Re: Yes, another request thread. Stretch 2
Stretch 2 in spy27 , lukewarm LC200n = heck no The stretch and it’s sprint runs traditionally are geared towards the top tier steels , zdp189, hap40, v-toku2, magna, vg10 I bet there’s a steel that’s over looked for the hunting geared stretch As a hunter I would never buy one in LC200n, as I would ...

Re: EDC steel advice
As a maritime worker my vote is vg10, LC200n can’t stay sharp without every day edge maintenance, and when we need to cut in a hurry sawing threw something isn’t in the cards!
LC200n is easy enough to sharpen, but requires it often/ daily

Re: Endura Salt?
I just say no to the LC200n, any steel like magna cut , vg10, bd1n, I like liner less/ light weight, and vg10 , bd1n is super corrosion resistant over all ! The LC200n is super high maintenance when it comes to keeping it keen edge, I personally would sacrifice corrosion resistance for edge durabil...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
Heck I finally figured it out, it’s the cattle hay net wrap and bags of cubes , they have lots of dirt caught up in the netting, I got the salt 2 back to razor sharp, 6 round bales and the blade was ready to be sharp again. A pocket lansky triangle stick @ lunch or water break helps keep the edge ma...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
I feel like all of these issues can be resolved through sharpening. Example, Vivi has amazing results with H1, he's clearly doing something that I'm not because I don't think I could tell apart H1/VG10/LC200N until it came time to sharpen them. I sharpen them all the same at the same angles and edg...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
It’s edge retention is sacrificed for toughness and corrosion resistance ? Not always but usually, generally the softer the steel the tougher the blade but also the less edge retention, but too hard and it can be brittle. The trick is getting the right balance between the 3 to fit what you intend t...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
lc200n is 2x as tough as vg10 and bd1n according to larrins chart https://i0.wp.com/knifesteelnerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/stainless-ratings-table2.jpg?w=561&ssl=1 Might be better off with PE too. Comes with a thicker edge and if it does chip, repairing it usually takes 10 minutes or le...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
Well , just got done taking the roll off the edge, with a diamond stick and flat ultra fine (2-3 hour job) , LC200n is fairly easy to work with as said above, next time it’s going to the spyderco beauty shop ;) ! I am definitely ordering a new serrated edge Endela or native with bd1n or vg10 Cutting...

Re: LC200n? What am I doing wrong
pics? those are some really abusive materials you're cutting. i've had my caribbean teeth roll on hard plastic straps, but the rolling wasn't irreparable. if you can sharpen serrations, it shouldn't be too bad to fix them. how bad was the rolling? Enough to see it and catch a thumbnail on the flat ...

LC200n? What am I doing wrong
Ok this might sound ignorant? Twice since December I have ruined 2 salt2’s LC200n blades #1 I cut some black poly water line and rolled the serrated edge, and couldn’t get it back to working shape # 2 has rolled its edge after I opened a few bags of rocks salt and 1 bag of cement Did I buy the wrong...

Re: Stainless steels and peak sharpness
The 20CV Zoomer takes an amazing edge and the hamaguri grind is quite easy to maintain. Slices like a champ even on harder vegetables as well as potatoes. I use a full set of AEB-L kitchen knives (LTWK). They do easily take and keep an very keen edge. It’s a a great steel for daily use! My 20cv zom...

Re: Strop vs hone?
Being a butcher for 20 years steels are the most left out arsenal in keeping a edge. It won’t sharpen a dull blade but it will keep a good edge longer. A lot longer When people comment about a knife loosing a edge after 3 deer……Try 20 bodies of beef in a day :winking-tongue Here is my F-Dick steel ...
