The drop is actually at 10 am Mountain Time, which is noon EST. Blade HQ used to be in Utah, hence the time zone oddity for a Virginia based company.
Thanks for the correction. I’m in EST and my brain was split between saying 10 AM MST and 12 EST.

Re: Did anyone give Spydercos for Christmas?

Gifted a K08 Santoku to a culinarily-inclined coworker.

I picked up one for myself earlier this year. Despite having kitchen knives several times more expensive to choose from, I’ve been reaching for that knife more often than not for food prep.

It fell to page 2 rather quickly, but here’s the original thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=91383

If you’re at all interested in this model, I wouldn’t bank on a DLC version. The Dodo has *to date* only been released in satin.

Re: Steels you won't buy...and why

Just curious, what steel would you prefer on a Chaparral? I love CTS-XHP (although edge retention and stainless are my most important properties of a steel; toughness is least), but would also love to see more steel choices on the Chaparral. That’s a good question. Also want to clarify that I’m not...

Re: Steels you won't buy...and why

CTS-XHP: Corrosion resistance is on-par with some tool steels Carbides are (virtually) exclusively chromium-based and as a result toughness is relatively low Commands a premium price despite these drawbacks I know I’d love the design and stock thickness, but refuse to purchase a Chaparral until the ...

Wow, thanks for digging that up. Interesting shape on that leaf near the stand-off. Not exactly like the Para 3 LW after all.

Re: BladeHQ PM2 Aluminum-scale Exclusive

Sounds like that from the description they put up in the Spyderco app: Both scales are first milled to shape and the obverse (near-side) scale is machined to accept the lock bar for the knife's streamlined Compression Lock® mechanism. Thanks, I am in the party that doesn't seem to get app notificat...

Re: BladeHQ PM2 Aluminum-scale Exclusive

Does anyone (perhaps someone with one of the copper/REX45 versions) know how the lock is constructed in a linerless PM2? Will the scale just be milled out to accommodate a leaf/bar like in the Para 3 LW?

Thanks

Re: Are You Up For A Native Chief XL?!

what makes you think that? i find the choil more useful on the chief than most other spydercos, because with no thumb ramp I can use it with more comfort than models that have a ramp. I tend to agree. The choil allows for more precision which is critical when handling a blade of such length. It is ...

Endela wharncliffe in K390
Enuff XL (preferably sheepsfoot)
Dragonfly in LC200N
Native Chief sprints/exclusives in tool steels

Re: M4 Native Chief - Impressions, reviews, etc.

Thank you, Sir. That would be the DLC M4 in my case.

I used to think that squared off corners were more stable (less prone to rotation) in-hand but more recent experience with contoured models like the Shaman have made me question if that’s the case.

Looking forward to trying this out.

Vivi, what grit did you use to chamfer the edges? I haven’t noticed the edges creating a hotspot on any of my three models but wouldn’t mind rounding them a little to see how I like it.
