Re: What's the big deal with the nub?
I get the complaint about the Shaman because the nub on that is quite prominent, but the blade of the Yojumbo looks completely flat on the edge side, without any protrusion.

Re: Military 2
Hey how about that bushing pivot? I assume it is based on the kapara and I’d call that a winner Monday thru Saturday. Sunday carry is delica or sage sized. Bushing pivot should make the action addictive, as if it isn’t already. I’d guess the pivot hole in the blade is adjusted to accommodate the bu...

Hello Guys!
Thank you all for the words of encouragment!
I did order a loupe, so I am eagerly waiting it's arrival, to try and debug my sharpening.

Re: Maxamet edge retention
Thank you everyone!
Then it seems it is more than likely that my sharpening is the culprit.
I will try to resharpen and properly remove the burr with the current angle when I get a loupe on monday.

Re: Maxamet edge retention
Thank you Sal, I will source a loupe to see if I have some burr remnants left over.
Currently the blade is around 20 degrees per side, I could go to around 15 degrees per side with this system, maybe I give that a go when I hsve the loupe to check my work.

Re: Maxamet edge retention
Thank you Sal and EvilD for the replies! I am sharpening with a DMT guided system, at the factory angles. I sharpened it by going through the diamond plates up until 1200 grit. (325/600/1200) Then I stropped on leather loaded with Tormek paste. I tried to deburr as best I could, with decreasing the ...

Maxamet edge retention
Hello guys! I have a Para 3 with a Maxamet blade and after reading a bunch of tests and reviews I am not seeing the performance and edge retention that they described. With a sharp edge (sticks to my fingernail at an angle) I get noticable loss of sharpness after 1-2 pizza boxes worth of cardboard. ...

Maxamet should not be that hard to find, since it is regular production.
Can't go wrong with either of those steels!

Re: Lambs Foot Manix
Looks a little funky with the new blade/handle ratio, but you did a great job rounding down the spine. How much blade length did you loose?
This is the compromise we have to make to have ffg fine tips. Same with the Para 3, PM2.

Re: REX 45 Para - snapped tip!
That is not too bad! Like the others said, you can easily fix that with a grinder or ceramic/diamond stones.
At least you have the choice to give it a more rounded, more robust tip if you want.

Re: Increase in Exclusives?
I understand the business model of exclusives and how it is better for Spyderco than sprints, but I am not really a fan, because, like you mentioned they are harder to get outside the US.
I would love to see more sprints, that are available through regular retailers.

Re: Show off your 3d Printed Spyderco Mods/Creations!
Great topic, I am curious what you guys came up with.
I only printed a backspacer for my Para 3 but it broke not so long after, so I got a titanium one.

Military 2 is very exciting! Hope Spyderco reveals it soon.
Will the Reverse S Para 2 be some shop's exclusive? That was the case for all special blade shapes, unfortunately.

I'm in.
Congrats on the milestone! This is very generous.
My favourite is my Para 3 Maxamet. Love "exotic" steels, but never had a salt.

Re: Para 3 Salt, is it going to happen?
And yes, mainly for the weight. I mean, if the Para 3 LW came in a Salt version, it would be the same situation, right? LC200N version AND versions in other steels in an lightweight FRN handle. Except that the Para 3 LW is not really "lightweight" compared to Seki knives. Personally I lik...

Re: Para 3 Salt, is it going to happen?
I actually would like to see it happening the other way round: Giving the great ffg Seki Salts some NON salty variants - Like a "Pacific Salt" = linerless Endura in HAP 40 or something like this. Would you want one because of weight? I don't see any other advantage of going linerless, bes...

Re: Para 3 Salt, is it going to happen?
I kinda feel like they deliberately don't make some models in Salt variations because it might detract from regular Salt model sales and/or become redundant. I know the Pacific has a cult following but if they made a Para 2 or Military Salt to compete in sales I have absolutely no doubt that it wou...
