Re: Atlantic Salt in ffg LC200N - won´t it be a great platform for a "wharnie-modded general EDC"?
As for PE sections on SE blades, personally, I think Spyderco does combo edge the wrong way. PE section should be near the tang instead of near the tip. I just wanted to chime in and say I have felt this way for a long time. A combo edge would serve me well at work, however I use plain edge because...

Re: Pacific salt disassembly
I'll also agree that the scales are nice in person, but if you want a Salt knife that looks good too check out the Siren! Its more expensive, but by the time you factor in making new scales for the Pacific Salt itd probably be a wash.

Re: Your New Knife Ritual
I usually fidget with the knife like crazy for the rest of the night and then carry it a bunch. That generally wears them in quickly and then they fall into the normal rotation. I will actually do the same break -in with knives I gift people, I'll take them out and open and close them a bunch (possi...

Re: Yojimbo Light?
Also, making it FFG might also run contrary to Mike's design and purpose for this knife. It would probably become another new knife design altogether. This was going to be my next point. I notice many times people ask for a knife with x change, and then y change, but realistically it would become a...

Re: Yojimbo Light?
I really love FRN lightweight knives, but like the Shaman, I feel like a Yojimbo 2 LW would be incredibly blade heavy if they use the same blade as the G10 version. The balance might make it feel really odd in the hand. If they used a thinner or otherwise lightened blade it could be compelling.

Re: Smock grind issue
Mine is evenly, uneven on both sides...so I guess that's kind of a plus haha! Oh well, still cuts just fine! If it’s the same on both sides, I could live with that. I’m glad yours ended up like that. It’s the difference from one side to the other that would really bother me. I hope those who have k...

Re: Smock grind issue
Taking a look at his customs, it looks like some grinds meet that corner, some land above that corner. I have to say I find that a little odd that it’s different aesthetically from knife to knife, but Mr. Smock knows how to make his knives best. https://imgdump5.novarata.net/uxk8e3.jpg https://imgdu...

Re: Smock grind issue
On the Spyderco Facebook pages guys are crazy about these Smocks and pictures are always being posted of them. One guy mentioned the same issue, and since then I've noticed the majority of Smocks posted have the same uneven grind from one side to the other. So, it looks like a lot Smocks are like th...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS
I do agree that adding an S to every knife may end up being too much. My understanding from what I'm hearing about those who have gone in person, we are talking about thousands of knives. If it takes 5 seconds to burn an S into each knife, after 720 knives thats already an hour of stamping/burning a...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS
Here are some suggestions 1. Weed out any non-cosmetic defects and store them away for the next in-person seconds sale 2. Disclaimer/waiver stating clearly that all knives will have notches above the spydiehole to indicate that they are factory seconds, they are not intended for re-sale, all knives...

Re: Wide-bladed Knives
I think the biggest benefit to a tall blade like that on the Manix is it ensures you will never forget the knife is in your pocket, thereby always giving you the confidence of someone who carries a knife and preventing the always looming wash cycle! :p In all seriousness, I think Wartstein covered m...

Re: Bill Moran with new steel?
I would love to see it done in a Japanese steel like SG2 or SRS13. Changing the FRN handle to something earth-toned would be a nice match I believe.

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS
I don’t really care if I get some kind of special treatment or not, I just want to score a cheap G10 Manix in some fancy steel I can beat the heck out of an not feel bad! And if I can get one, a cheap Gayle Bradley 2 I can do the same to...

Re: Polishing Lil’ Native G10 scales?
Very nice! I have tried this, but did not use the flat pan/full sheet of sand paper. As a result, I think my sanding was not consistent across the slab scale. When I would go up to a higher grit - some areas would polish well and others would not. Kinda splotchy. I would re-sand and work my way bac...

Re: Polishing Lil’ Native G10 scales?
I thought it was going to be more solid black as well, but it turned out to have a really slick woven pattern to it. Definitely better than I expected, I thought you needed contoured G10 to get nice patterns.

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS
I live in the midwest and I don’t have the means to travel across the country just for some deals on knives, so I’m really excited to have an opportunity to partake in this seconds sale! I hope it works out to be a user-friendly system.

Re: Polishing Lil’ Native G10 scales?
So, tonight I went for it between church services and this is how it turned out. That came out looking really nice. I much prefer it over what it would have been had you taken down thetexture all the way. I may be misunderstanding what you are saying, but I did take the texture down all the way. Ru...
